but how do you do that? I can’t seem to control the actual amount that gets placed, only the location. is there some sort of mystic ladylike power that allows for fine control of polish, or does it just come with experience?
lastly, what do you do about random splotches? should they be taken off the skin right away, or allowed to dry and then removed? I’ve tried both methods, and neither seems much better.
tomorrow i will buy some electric blue nail polish. loves and kisses,
dropzone: I love a good conspiracy, but sad to say, I have watched precisely ZERO episodes of the X-Files. Sorry!
(((dropzone)))
Catrandom: I feel your pain. I too have the squished baby-toenails! My feet are also exceptionally flat, and on the big side too, 8 1/2. Big, flat feet, with squished baby toes. Ugh.
(everyone start humming the theme from Flipper now!)
Anyway, what I’ve found very helpful in successfully painting my toenails is those foam toe-separator thingies. Also, using a lighter color. That way, if you slip & hit the side of your toe (as people with squished baby toes invariably do), it’s not quite as noticeable.
Uh huh. And use a base coat… and let each coat dry completely before doing the next. Run some ice cold water over them to speed up the process. After two topcoats, spray that super-fast nail dry stuff on 'em.
so this isn’t a simple “buy a bottle and you’re set” thang? damn!! i want to look pretty, but i have no money and a huge distaste for the commercial-industril complex. maybe the hammer thing s my best bet, archer.
btw, as soon as i get a scanner, you guys will see the damn sweetest looking guy in the world. I am SOOOO hot as a chick! (IMHO)
Natural on my hands, although I’ll probably paint them a pale pink later this week.
Natural on my toes too, but only because I’m getting a pedicure Wednesday. Think I’ll be going for either brght red or rose on them. Or maybe purple. Depends on what the salon has…
Do those thingies help? I’ve never had one; but painted toenails seem so nice in the summer. I’ll get one on my drugstore run. Pale purple toenails for me!
A bit of a hijack, but as an old-fashioned guy, The only colour I like to see on a girl ( or woman) is blood red or one of the shades of pink. All these other colors ** really ** turn me off, especially the dark colours like purple and brown and black uuuuccccckkkkkkk ! And that goes double for lipstick.
As for guys wearing nail colour and/or lipstick and/or earings, give me a break willja ?
Catrandom: Surprisingly, yes they do help! I am a Mary Kay fan too, and I got a pedicure set as a free gift just a couple of months ago. While I’ve never given myself a full pedicure, I decided to try the toe thingies & paint my toenails. I usually don’t paint them, because of the squished baby toe problem. Separating the toes worked wonders. I still have a little trouble with my actual baby toe, but the rest of them are much easier to work with now!
I go for the outragous colors, and usually my fingers and toes don’t match but yesterday I painted them a new color that one of my guys got for me.
It’s a really cool color that changes from blue to purple to green. The reason he bought it is because I put it down three times saying how much I loved it but wasn’t about to spend that much money on polish. It’s Revlon KhakiZING.
I usually get the cheapey stuff since I change it so much. But it drove him crazy last nite so I guess it was worth it!
Right now it is all covered in like three different wall paints since I am painting my girls room. I’ll have to fix that later.
Oh, and jb make sure that you aren’t trying to paint your nails around fans or air conditioners. A lot of the fast drying polishes dry before you can get them off the brush if you don’t.
I was in a play last week where I had to play a 1950’S Hollywood starlet. So, naturally, my nails were painted “Dream Poppy”, your standard red. I wore open-toe shoes, so my toenails match my fingernails. My fingernails aren’t red anymore, but toenails are still “Dream Poppy”. Personally, I prefer this light Periwinkle blue color I have.
All of the sudden, I have the strangest urge to break out into “I Enjoy Being a Girl” while painting my nails.
