Purple is not out of the question. Here’s the story- I have short, curly hair. Naturally, it’s light brown, but the ends are black as that’s what I last dyed my hair. I need to get rid of my roots, but I’m sick of black. I’m fair-skinned, with blue eyes. I’m not afraid of any color\* (although I feel red makes me look a little too pink), and my hair is so thick and coarse it doesn’t fry easily, so I could conceivably go platinum blonde. I’m actually considering something more like dirty blonde with blonder highlights, as that would be closer to my natural color and lower-maintenance. But then I was thinking about streaks of fun color, like maybe red and pink or something. My ex-boyfriend thinks black with pink streaks. My best friend says strawberry blonde. What say you, Dopers? \*Turquoise is the only color I can come up with that my hair _hasn’t_ been. ---

For two and a half years, I bleached my hair blonde. But it just didn’t feel like me. All along, I wanted auburn hair…so I bought medium reddish brown from Clairol and I like it so much better… ---

I like my reds. But if I were going to go wild, I’d do blonde, and put in streaks of pink or blue or purple. (Of course, as a middle-aged woman in a conservative field, that ain’t gonna happen.) ---

Leave it natural. Or shave it all off and get yourself an assortment of wigs so you can mix and match. ---

Without seeing your skintone it’s hard to say. Maybe go natural with moderate colored streaks - such as blue. ---

Fair skinned- with blue eyes you say? The first thought I came up with is to dye your hair a natural looking blonde then adding red or auburn highlights. Are you doing the dye job yourself or going to a salon? ---
