Francesca’s restaurant on Taylor Street, Chicago, is the first place I ever had egg on a pizza. You put the eggs on raw and bake 'em with the pie. I’ve done this at home, too. Put a half inch ring of red pepper or Spanish onion on each quadrangle, and break the egg into it. The vegetable keeps the white from spreading all over the place. The white sets nicely and the yolk is gooey enough to spread over the entire quarter. ---

Green olives just taste bad period. I can take jalapenos in a lot of things, but they don’t go well on pizza. Now, as part of the sauce, maybe. But not as a topping. And, while I like banana peppers raw or cooked, the ones put on pizza are invariably the pickled kind, and I just do not like them. I can eat them, but they overpower everything. I don’t put them in salads for the same reason. I’ve never actually eaten an anchovy, or seen a pizza with it. The meme is so strong that they are gross that I’ve never even seen them offered anywhere. I suspect I probably wouldn’t like them on a pizza, as they sound really salty and fishy, but I didn’t check it because I don’t know for sure. I do know I like shrimp on pizza. That was the kind I always got on my BookIt! personal pan at Pizza Hut. ---

The only one that’s gonna make me think about skipping a meal is going to be hamburger. It’s bland, and it’s blandness makes the pizza more bland than a plain cheese pizza. Plus, it has a tendency to make for a soggy pizza. Bleah. I’d rather have corn on it. Peas? Carrots? Umm, does it have something besides those, as well? Maybe some bulgogi? I really like pineapple on a Hawaiian style pizza, especially when they’ve got a hot oven, and it scorches the top of the pineapple. Mmmmmm, throw some red pepper on it and I’m in heaven. ---

Corn can also be found on pizza in Japan. You’ll see all kinds of weird stuff there, including variations with seaweed and whatnot. Nothing is off-limits. I lived there 8 years and love all Japanese food, but some of those pizza variations are just gross. ---

Don’t care for anchovies, and pineapple doesn’t belong on a freaking pizza. In the “what about…” category, I nominate broccoli. Broccoli is a perfectly admirable vegetable but tends to singe when residing atop a pizza crust and also doesn’t tend to cook through and through, so a broccoli-topped pizza is most often a pizza bearing singed-yet-undercooked broccoli. ---

I remember spinach pizzas from at least the late 80s, when they were one of the prizes in the Bozo buckets game on the Bozo Show. It works better in a deep dish or stuffed pizza, in my opinion. ---

I would happily eat pizza with any of the poll options so I’m not voting. There are some that I’d never order for myself (particularly ground beef, banana peppers, sausage slices, chicken) but that’s due to their relatively bland flavors. I’d probably enjoy some of the odd topping mentioned in the thread like eggs, clams & corn. Tuna (canned, I assume) seems a little weird but I’d give it a go. You keep that ranch dressing away from my slice, though. ---

There’s stuff I like on its own but not on a pizza: peppers, black olives, ground beef, onions. These I’ll pick off but it won’t stop me from eating the stripped down result. A mushroom, or god forbid an anchovy, is a deal breaker. Alfredo sauce is pretty popular and not only will I never eat that, I’ll probably have to leave the room. BBQ sauce with chicken as the topping doesn’t sound revolting but doesn’t fall under my _personal_ idea of pizza. I’d just have a bbq chicken sandwich if I wanted that. Another deal breaker is extra cheese or five cheese. Blecccccch. ---

Anchovies only work on a garbage pizza, otherwise they’re too overpowering. I’ll even tolerate mushrooms as long as there’s a mess of other toppings. Then again, I’ve only had an everything/garbage pizza once. ---
