Watching ppl eat. I try not to, but then I can hear them. Ok not everyone, its the DH. He eats like an animal.

• Stuffing the side of the cheek full of food and then cramming MOAR food in there. Like food is leaving the planet and will not be back.
• Chomping, smacking, slurping, grinding the teeth together so that they make that awful scraping sound gives me the creeps. Then the finger-licking, smacking/sucking noises. And burping afterward. Disgusting. Ive tried to gently tell him to slow down and even made a joke of it but it never changes. Its like nails on the blackboard.

I had to LOL at the “prehensile tongue” part! Conjures up a giraffe eating! 😛

I had a cashier at Wal-Mart the other day who asked me multiple times if I wanted a Mastercard. The _first_ no was polite; the subsequent ones, not so much.

But the ones I really hate are people who slow down unnecessarily when driving because they’re thinking about maybe turning in a few blocks, or maybe a kilometer or two down the road. Attention morons: it is entirely possible to maintain your speed until you get much closer to where you need to turn. Any earlier than that, and I am fantasizing about taking out your car with a rocket launcher.\<snip\>

Or the people who turn right in front of me when I’m the only car on the road, then make another turn in a block, forcing me to slow down for them again. If you had waited two more seconds, I would have been past you and you wouldn’t have had to inconvenience me twice for no reason at all.

The most mundane thing that drives me into a fury is “push” doors that look like “pull” doors, and vice versa. What kind of evil person would design misleading push/pull handles for doors?

Something that used to bother me more when I lived downtown: when I’d be walking behind a couple of tourist and they’d abruptly stop so that Tourist #2 could take a picture of Tourist #1 standing on the sidewalk.

“Hey, remember that time I was standing on a sidewalk?”
“Oh yeah! Good memories…”

Especially when there is a big open space behind you with lots of room to not cut someone off and make the turn safely.

People who say “EYE-ther” when saying the word “either”. I was raised that it was “EE-ther”, not “EYE-ther”. Yes, I realize that this is now becoming a majority pronunciation, that does not make me loathe it any less.

Likewise “normalcy”. I learned the word “normality”. I loathe “normalcy” and yes, it is another one that seems to be becoming the default.

Why is something learned as a child so much more important or true, whether it is or not, than something learned an hour ago, yesterday or 10 years ago?

It can be hauled out in any discussion or argument and is supposed to carry more weight than otherwise.

-Smokers, who, when seeing the bus approach and stop, take the biggest, fattest drag off their cig, then knock the cherry off to save the half-smoked cigarette for later, exhaling a lungful of smoke into my bus  . These days when I see them taking a huge drag off a cigarette I won’t open the doors until I see them puff all the smoke out, otherwise the bus reeks of cigarette smoke for a while. [Normal in the sense that they are considerate enough to know they can’t smoke in the bus and at least not littering at the bus stop, but irritating nonetheless]

-Parents who change their kids’ diaper in the bus, then forget the dirty diaper when they leave, leaving it to get sat/stepped on.

-I’m sure whatever they are watching on their smartphone is pretty hot, but I really wish they would jerk off into the urinals in the public bathrooms instead of between the seat cusion in the back of the bus.

Around here, it’s the bus drivers who smoke inside their buses. And there don’t seem to be any bus drivers who don’t smoke.

That’s LEGAL? Sometimes I forget not everything is like how it is in California. Where I live, nobody is allowed to smoke in the bus, to the extent that the drivers aren’t even allowed to hold an unlit stogie in their mouth (which some drivers got pissy about).

It’s illegal as HELL, but bus drivers still get away with it. They usually smoke inside their buses before picking up passengers, as opposed to when passengers are inside the bus.

Wow, that’s nuts. We get in trouble for eating a sandwich in the driver’s seat (even if it is parked, engine off, they’re really particular about rules like this) and if someone complains, they’ll check the CCTV on the bus to see the driver’s incriminating activity.

If I was smoking on the bus I’d get a 3 day suspension handed to me before I could even finish the smoke! (ie people tattle on the bus drivers for everything and I never assume I’m gonna get away with squat)

Recently, a bus driver (who was already late) stopped off for a full five minutes at a restaurant that was on his route, then came back with a coffee and sandwich, and drove slowly and erratically because he had a sandwich in one hand. Then there was the time I went to the front of the bus to get away from a passenger’s stinky McDonald’s food, and discovered that the bus driver was eating a reeking McDonald’s hamburger while driving.

I hate the bus drivers here. **Incubus** , can I just move to where you live?

People who spend all their time in public with their cell phone glued to the side of their heads, seemingly in one long, drawn out conversation with no end.

I see, all the time, people in grocery stores shopping, going up and down the isles, without ever putting the phone down, including going through the checkout line, paying the clerk, all without ever hanging up.

Not to mention people in restaurants who arrive while on the phone, sit down, have their order taken, and eat their meal without ever hanging up.

I can’t imagine having that much to talk about to anyone, and if I did, I wouldn’t do it out in public. Cut the crap! :dubious:

People who whistle in public. No, more correctly, more honestly, people who whistle in my presence. I can’t stand whistling. I will ask whistlers questions just so they have to stop doing that thing with their face. I don’t necessarily care what their answers are to my questions, I just want them to quit with that noise.

Also, people (in my family) who want to have a conversation with me while they brush their teeth. How long does it take to brush your teeth, 5 minutes? 10 minutes at the most? Surely you can be silent for this brief time. Whatever you want to say can wait a few minutes.
