I gave two that went over really well and got something awesome: 1. For DH - a plushie tick. Running joke - ticks really freak him out. 2. For DH - a decanter shaped like a zombie head. He’s crazy for zombies. Come the apocalypse, I’m just going to hide behind him. 3. DH designed a new iPhone cover for me with my initials and one of my favorite color combos in a plaid pattern. ---

I got the house a Kinect, and a bluray player - and a Samsung Galaxy W for my wife. (She doesn’t know that an Android phone for her is just as much a gift for me, because I want her to have one that much.) I got the gift of being confirmed as Patriarch. A load of Old Spice products - I’ll smell like my father until June. 😃 ---

I don’t celebrate Christmas. I’m not a Christian. So I usually don’t get any gifts at all. My Mom, however, does celebrate Christmas, and this year she sent me something awesome! She took all the old home movies from my childhood and had them put on a DVD, in the proper chronological order. Then she made me a “cast list” of everyone in every sequence (both my mother’s and father’s families are very large and she was afraid that either my sister or I might not recognize some people). These movies span from 1971 to 1977, a precious chunk of my childhood that I had not seen in well over 30 years. People and places long gone, holiday get-togethers the like of which I was very privileged and lucky to be a part of, vacations we took & good times shared with the people I loved and love most in this world all brought forward to today! It’s easily the most moving and wonderful thing I’ve gotten as a gift in recent memory. Thanks, Mom! You rock! ---

The gagging is on the part of her father who is a heavy metal headbanger who now must live with a life-size image of a succesfull musician he despises, in image which (evil laugh) he cannot deface or destroy because of how sad that would make his darling daughter. ---

I got a RC helicopter. It’s electric, and charges from the USB ports on the computer. It’ll fly for about 5 minutes on a full charge. The cats both got prescriptions for tiny little bottles of Valium. 😃 ---
