# What could be better than all you can eat breakfast?

Forget about fat and health and heartburn.
Imagine an all you can eat breakfast bar with even some lunch and dinner and dessert stuff.
All the eggs any style and omlets made to order.
Dozens of different kinds of sauseges and endless amouts of bacon.
Syrup stuff french toast pancakes ect…
steamed white rice, hash browns all kinds of fried starch
beans, tomatoes, tortillas, cheese and cheesy things…
and doughnuts.
Is there anything better than this?

There is nothing better than this. I will frequently eat breakfast for breakfast, lunch or dinner. That kind of food appeals to me 24/7.
When I’ve travelled, the breakfast buffet has been my best friend in the whole wide world. Let me emphasize, WIDE. Man, you set me down in a place with home made grits, omlettes, link sausages and some decent biscuits and gravy and I am just livin’ the life !!! Not a lick of work may get done, but gosh I’ll be happy.

All-you-can-eat buffets: The great American invention
When I’m at one, it means I’m on the road and that means one of two pleasures. I’m either going somewhere, or playing tourist, and that means I’m not at work, I’m not at home, and the great big day is before me.
One of my favorite times was on the Disney cruise, when I discovered the hot drinks self-serve bar near the pool. I’d get up early while the kids and wife were either asleep or engrossed in “Toy Story” on the in-ship telly, and make my way up the elevator from steerage. Turn right, through the glassed double-doors, and the sea air hits me (but not the sun since the deck’s over my head), and there she stands. Tea, coffee (never a bad cup, even a 2 a.m.), hot chocolate, the servers laying out on a nearby table croissants, cinnamon rolls, cookies, the menu changed daily. Grab a cup and a plate of rolls and walk the length of the ship, the fresh air caressing the flesh, the ship under way and the world to myself.
Then it’s back downstairs, gather the family and head for breakfast!

Oh, God. I remember the first All-You-Can-Eat-Breakfast I ever had. I was 21, and out late on a Sunday morning with two girlfriends. We went to Big Boy’s on Loch Raven Boulevard in Baltimore.
We were stunned that you really could go back for more, LOTS more, and it was way better than school food (which you could also have more of, or at least seconds). I remember the three of us making jokes about how being able to have a dozen pieces of bacon and sausage at a time was incredible. (We had been raised that you have _two_ pieces _only_ of bacon or sausage with breakfast, period.) But this. This was acres of scrambled eggs and french toast and pancakes and syrup and butter and fried potatoes. We could use as much syrup and butter as we wanted. \* And we could have as much as we pleased of everything\*. Twenty-three skiddoo, baby!
We sat there for at least two hours gorging and resting and gorging and resting. We guzzled coffee and smoked cigarettes and basked in the warm glow of protein and grease.
I remember that we also made jokes about vomitoriums. Man, we could have used one that day for sure.

Y’all should head on over to Las Vegas, then. Most of the casinos had some pretty decent breakfast buffets. My dad still has fond memories of one Sunday brunch with a champagne fountain. He said it wasn’t the VERY best champagne he’d ever had, but it was pretty darn good.
If you do go to a Las Vegas buffet, for any meal, just take one spoonful of each food you like. Because, believe me, there are plenty of dishes to choose from, and the best is always at the far end of the buffet.

For me breakfast is liquid. Generally whatever got carried out the pub with me the night before… 😉
I cannot eat within a few hours of getting out of bed… urggg!

Don’t feel bad, many of us (me) don’t know either although I have seen it. It is a hot breakfast food that looks like cream of wheat but whiter and with larger granules, somewhat glistening actually. I have no idea how it tastes, but I am sure that someone will be by soon to fill in all the gritty (😃 ) details.
