What country mints the world's coolest/sexiest currency?

Coins ARE currency. In the USA, paper money is printed at Printing and Engraving. Coins are struck at the US Mint.

Recently, I’ve gotten three quarters in my change with differently-coloured inserts: yellow, blue, and red.

The 50-guilder note from 1982 remains my all-time favourite banknote.

No, sorry, the Cook Islands are still in the lead with “naked chick riding a shark”.

The Australian $50 appears to have Robin Williams in his role as Mrs Doubtfire on it.

Well, in fairness, climate means that Canada is unlikely to come out with “naked chick riding a polar bear” any time soon.

Though that would be interesting…

Hah!

Don’t be too sure.

  1. I’m a straight woman, so I am significantly less impressed by that as the men in this thread seem to be

  2. Glow in the dark dinosaurs

  3. GLOW IN THE DARK DINOSAURS.

I also love the current five-dollar bill, with a hockey scene and quote from Roch Carrier’s “The Hockey Sweater” on it, but I’m a hockey fan.

I’m with you. As if some silly tart with her tits out is better than a glow in the dark dinosaur or a holographic snake.

Plebeian, to be sure.

Came here to say something like this. After seeing this coin the other day (not in person, just elsewhere on the web), I think it’s my new favorite coin. It just appeals to my inner 6-year-old.

My question is, is this purely a commemorative thing, or is it in regular circulation?

ETA: I looked at the pricing on the link above, and I think I just answered my own question.

I actually liked the 50 guilders note best, which my Finnish friend called “hippy money” because it had the big sunflower on it.

Do you like birds?

The penny has a hummingbird on it!

Birds galore!

Ok, maybe a stretch, but… Hot Chicks of Hooters Casino Chips?

Somehow this made me cough up my coffee, don’t know why:D.

Yeah, the 50 is prettier, but the 25 used to be the note I used most. I also really liked the fact that it was ‘25’, now we’re stuck with those damn ‘20’ Euro notes. It’s probably just nostalgia talking.

There’s about 5 zillion posts on Canadian plastic currency. It must be exciting.
Meanwhile I still have some pennies with Queen Victoria on them. Worth bugger all, but I like them.

I loved the line in the article on he dinosaur coin;

“Her majesty does not glow in the dark”

Oh come on! How much cooler would it be if she did? Hell, just put a small glow in the dark crown on her head. That’d be all you’d see in the dark and would be awesome.

As a Stark Trek fan I submit the front of the fiver is a more logical choice.

(of course I meant Star Trek, though I do admire Iron Man)
