# What creative accounting steps is the Treasury taking?

What exactly is the Treasury doing to keep the US from breaching its debt limit? I see phrases ranging from “creative accounting tricks” to “various measures,” but no details.

The things I’ve heard include no longer floating loans to fund local municipal bonds (something called “slugs”) and stopping funding of government retirement plans.
