What crimes would you personally use your jury nullification power on?

Yeah definitely. And I do have a problem with the police dept getting to keep whatever the seize, that is basically corruption IMO.

Still fundamentally if a prosecutor presents evidence to me as a juror that this property is the direct result of harvesting kids organs for profit, or whatever, I have no problem with OKing seizing it.

My main issue is the fact none of that is required, it’s just done on the say-so of a cop.

True, same here, but in CA simple possession (without intent to sell) only has a $100 fine.

It used to be a defense in many states that someone “needed killing”. I would listen to such a defense, but the bar would be VERY high.

Also someone defending themselves vs rape- but then charged with a weapon possession crime- I dunno, the DA would really have to convince me.

Ditto for anyone who drives into a group of Illinois Nazis causing them to jump off a bridge.

I saw a documentary about that once.

Yeah, but look how that ended: the entire Illinois law enforcement community after them.

Nazis got clout.

I’m hoping that at least one nullificationist makes it onto the Mangione jury.

In Texas there is (was – no idea if it still is there) a law saying that thc extracted from weed was counted the same as Heroin. And if you made edibles like pot brownies the weight of the flower, butter etc was counted in the weight. So a single pan of pot brownies was 10-99 years in prison – a stiffer charge than murder.

I would nullify the hell out of a case like that.

Bolding mine.

Bummer of a typo there.

But yeah, that kind of cynical overreach in law-writing is exactly what nullification was “designed” to prevent. Back in the Dayes Of Yore when “law writing” was something Kings did more or less capriciously.

Oh, wait, we aren’t living in Back to the Future here now; it’s Back to the Past.

I will not discuss jury nullification so that I might more easily get empaneled for a jury.
