I’d claim to be framed by the entrenched political system, and get off scot-free being hoisted by a cheering jury. 
Not sure what the rules are in your jurisdiction, but in Virginia, both the accused and the Commonwealth must waive a jury trial. If the accused wants a bench trial and the Comnmonwealth insists on a jury… it’s tried to a jury.
In practice, that happens approximately never. The Commonwealth would have wet dreams over a parade of defendants asking for bench trials. So would the judges.
