# What did Nupur Sharma in India say that caused such controvery

The bit about the prophet’s third marriage to his third wife, Aisha, and the age of consummation seems to have been the trigger point.

This happened during a rancorous TV debate about gyanvapi mosque . The mosque was constructed by Aurangzeb by demolishing a hindu temple, and a recent survey is believed to have found evidence of a hindu temple and deity there. The matter is sub-judice. There’s a law that freezes the change of a place of worship backdated to India’s independence.
