I am totally enjoying my summer job in a pharmaceutical lab. It’s the same job I had last summer, but this year I am working on much more varied products, rather than on one repetitive method development, and it’s more interesting. I have a coworker who is another student who is waiting to see if he’s accepted to the university I go to -I really hope he is, because he’s such a great guy! I can imagine becoming really good friends with him in time (and no, not in a romantic way. I’m in a relationship, and he’s gay anyways!) My SO broke his arm, and may require surgery on his wrist, which has caused a bit of stress, but we are taking a bit of a “shit happens” attitude to it, and waiting to see what comes next. My mom’s best friendś daughter is pregnant. It was unexpected (she was on the Pill), and she is still a bit young (19), but in a long-term, commited relationship with her boyfriend. It’s a bit of a shock to everyone, including her, but I think it’ll be a good thing. Mom’s best friend will be an EXCELLENT grandma! Oddly, this had made me a little jealous when I think of it too much, but I know I am not ready to have kids yet, mainly for financial reasons! I guess it’s just the part of me that wants to be a mommy telling me to "Be a mommy!¨ and I have to tell it to shut up! My aunt moved into a new house last month - it’s about 2.5 hours away from her hometown and her family (her brother, sister and mother). Another sister lives a little closer, but she’s somewhat preoccupied dealing with her SO’s serious liver cancer. A little bit melancholic. My SO has an old manual camera, and i’ve been having a lot of fun taking pictures the past few days (though mostly of the cat and his broken arm and scabbed-up face!) I need to get out of the house more to take some really good pictures. Um…I can’t think of anything else right now…I suppose it’s been a little busier than usual, but still somehow the day-to-day is still somewhat staus quo. ---

I just had the last of my upper teeth pulled and replaced with an upper plate. Want to know how my 4th of July went? Well consider that yogurt does not come in a flavor called **BBQ**. ---

4 weeks ago i still had half of my exams left and i suddenly realised that if i had worked harder two years ago my life would have been a lot easier. When i do my A Levels over the next two years i won’t be such a slacker and I’m going to get the highest grades i possibly can without complaining. ---

That job in Azerbaijan has finally come through! I built a new deck and moved the hot tub, so now I know lots of new ways to get muscle aches and smashed fingers; but at least I can sit in the tub and revise my work habits… ---

It’s nice to think about _me_ for a minute, and not answer with what changes have occurred in my baby in the past month (and they are many). I’d have to say that the biggest ‘evidence’ of change is going to the Boston Dopefest a few weeks ago. It might sound like no big deal to some, but it is a **really big** deal to me to go out and meet people whom I have never met before. I used to be painfully shy and would never have conceived of going out with strangers, to do something I might look foolish doing (in this case _attempting_ to play pool) and eating in front of people, etc. Not to mention the fact that I just don’t get out as much as I would like anymore. I was really glad I went and now those folks aren’t “total strangers” anymore. ---

June 15, the agency I work for moved to a new building. My commute is now only 7 miles, and takes about 15 minutes. My new office is twice the size of my old one, out of the way so people don’t hang around talking outside my door anymore, nice new furniture and carpet, and I have windows! Okay, so they look over the parking lot, but I’ve wanted windows for years and finally have some. It’s been lovely just going to work the last two weeks. ---

I’ve been on holidays, and mainly been bumming around on the internet, playing mahjong with my cousins and going to pubs with my friends. I’ve become mildly fitter in the past month because I’ve been going to the gym a couple of days a week, and a lot broker because I’ve been spending loads of money. So no huge changes (unless you count financial ones). ---

In the last 30 days: - Papa Tiger survived Layoff Day at his company. - We’ve just found out that they WON’T be downgrading the part of his job he has left, i.e. no salary cut. (Whew!) - More than a year after foot surgery, the residual nerve pain that has bothered me day and night has finally started to go away. - Young Tiger, who’d flunked out of college slight more than 30 days ago, enlisted in the Air Force. - We had two cars damaged in Tropical Storm Bill last week, one from water, one from flying debris. (The water damage was – yay! – warranty work, though!) On an unrelated note, **ArrMatey** , as the toenail grows in, soak your foot a LOT so the nail as it grows in won’t try to grow underneath the skin it pushes up as it grows in. Speaking from experience (dropped a large beer bottle on my toe 30 years ago and haved struggled with it being chronically ingrown ever since), it’s far better to prevent it from becoming ingrown in the first place! ---

Started a new job. Had a couple of old college friends get married. Other than that…nothing. Same girlfriend…same out to dinner once a week or so…same fight over the remote…same efficient German sex…same snuggling…same ususal girlfriend stuff Same friends…want to go to the same bars…drink the same drinks…all basically the same person, just diferent sizes and colors Same NYC…same crazy dude on my corner…same pot smell coming from ugly couple next doors appartment I think I need either: a) a vacation or b) to steal that beat up 70s Cadillac with the duct-taped roof that’s always in front of my apt and go on a cross country adventure. ---

In the last thirty days I’ve developed sever anemia, had 4 blood transfusions, dozens of medical tests and ablation surgery. My microwave died, as well as my printer. Been evacuated because of a natural gas leak. Oh! And while I was in the hospital for my surgery there was a fire (Small and brought under control easily) but upsetting none the less. Tomorrow I return to work and I hope the next 30 days are boring and uneventful.
