# What did the West do to provoke Islamic hostility?

What did the West do to provoke Islamic hostility?  
Nothing much…  
lets name a few highlights.

- 1953, the american CIA organizes, funds and supports a Coup in Iran. This leads to…well, to modern Iran, via several decades of nastyness.
- 
  1. Just to make sure that Iran remains suitably aggressive, the uss Vincennes shoots down a civilian passenger airliner. In Iranian airspace. And then USA rewards the captain of the ship with a Legion of Merit Medal “for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service as commanding officer” for this.  
Wouldn’t that be considered a reason for Iran to hate the USA?

And that is just focusing on ONE of the Islamic countries.
