that is fantastic. the art pieces are lovely.

my family doesn’t have a lot of “the good stuff” most is costume jewelry. we put items “up for grabs” before and after the funeral. i remember i gave one of my mum’s oldest friends a pin, she was so surprized and thankful.

anything left over from the “free for all” went to church sales or goodwill.

I just remembered an old Danecraft brooch I liberated from my mom when I was in my 20s. I was wearing a lot of vintage in those days, including a lot of 1940s suit jackets (some owned by my mom), and this brooch looked perfect with them. I was shocked some years later to realize it was solid sterling silver…and not a teeny tiny bitty thing either. It was a biggish hunk of silver.

That’s amazing! Great work by your sister!

Both sides of my family are poor and one side is poor AND Mennonite so there won’t be any jewelry from grandparents. My parents’ wedding rings will go to my brother and I and then eventually to my nieces. Easy peasy.

Yes, this is similar to what my BIL did with Mom’s jewelry. Unfortunately, he only did one frame as Mom didn’t spend much on costume jewelry. But I have enjoyed it as much has my brother has.

Well, I just gave it to a guy who sells stuff at auction. The siblings all went through it, first, and took whatever they wanted. We had some conflicts over the furniture and paintings, but not with the jewelry. I don’t think he’ll get much for it – he’ll probably sell most of it in a lot to someone who will sell it on ebay. But it’s not our problem any more.
