I got nothing. Reflects my standing in this place.

Absolutely you may. But be forwarned – I’m cooking stuff in small batches. It’s a New Year’s resolution thing. More better food, more less calories.

> From my dad & step-mom: A gorgeous new scarf and some lip gloss
> From my 12-year-old niece: Lip balm (This was an inside joke; a couple of weeks ago she borrowed my lip balm and then announced that she’d had a sore throat all week. I told her to keep it and that Santa had better bring me a new one for Christmas. She wrapped a new one in a huge box and gave it to me on Christmas Eve.)
> From my grandma: Gloves to match the scarf dad gave me, plus $10
> From my mom: “The Zombie Survival Guide,” slipper boots, and “Bananagrams” game
> From my sister: Gift certificate to stay at a really cool, old hotel in the town where she lives. My favorite author (Sinclair Lewis) worked there when he was young. This was a joint gift for my husband and I. We’ve been wanting to stay there, and since my family draws names, she rigged it so her family would have both of us.
> From my other grandma: A wall hanging
> From my husband: We just set a dollar limit and picked out our own stuff. I picked out three sweaters (one cashmere), a shirt, and a pair of jeans.
>
> We have Christmas with my husband’s family tonight.

Okay, after Wednesday night you can add to all this:
From my sister-in-law (who drew my name): New flannel PJs, a candle, a selection of soaps and lotions, and a new makeup bag.
From my in-laws: The Wii game I wanted and some dish towels

I got gifts for the first time in two years. And I got to unwrap them via webcam with my family. It was all very exciting. From my family I got
**Makeup** including a nice palatte from Sugar, my favorite brand
**Fancy soaps** just right for travelling
**Chocolates**
**A nice outfit for work** including a skirt, which is awesome because I can’t buy them here. Being a size six makes me an enormous amazon who is unable to find clothes in China.
**Cold weather stuff** a bathrobe, slippers, and long undies.
**A picture frame** with a picture of me fresh home from Africa wearing geeky braids.
**Fancy post-it notes**
**Books** including an excellent book about learning Hanzi and a Trans-Siberian railway guidebook. Very sweet and supportive.
**Robotic dog speakers** from my cute little cousin, who also made me a lovely card and a paper wallet.

From my friends here in China I got some very nice hand creme, a copy of Tom and Jerry in Sichuan dialect from my Sichuan dialect tutor, a bunch of paper cranes from a student, a giant teddy bear and a pair of mittens that look like poodles (my boss thinks I’m eight years old.)

I love Christmas!

A blu-ray player… oh yeah, it also doubles as a Sony Playstation 3. I’m 47 years old by the way 🙂

Mrs. Homie and I got for each other a 42" LCD 1080p HDTV. I got myself a Wii and Guitar Hero World Tour. She got me Super Mario Galaxy and some shirts. I got her an 8GB Zune (pink!).

Not a bad score at all, all things considered.

> A huge bag of chili powder strong enough to kill a moose
> A jar of green chili powder
> A garlic crusher
> A vial of Brazilian green peppercorns
> A spice mill
> A brush made of space-age material (good for syrups I guess)
> An America’s Test Kitchen cookbook
> A cookbook dealing with cooking at the molecular level

Man, those are _my_ kind of Christmas gifts! I got:

A new Foodsaver (old, failing one got retired)
A Whirlpool water cooler with adjustable temp hot/cold water dispensers ( **manthous** & I bought together)
A Garlic bulb XMas ornament and $25 Sur la Table gift card
A Foodsaver marinating canister
A set of salt & pepper “piglets”
A waffle maker (given to **manthous** & I)
A pound of Coffee
A gift card to my favorite mexican restaurant
A “Cooking the Costco Way” cookbook (it was the thought that counted!)

and PJs, [this beautiful wood-handled utility knife that I actually requested but never thought I’d get, cause you know—it’s a weird request for a woman](http://www.amazon.com/Bessey-D-BKWH-Quick-Change-Folding-Utility/dp/B000G7TLQ6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1230920595&sr=8-4), a couple Blu-Ray DVDs, some hand-knitted socks (beautiful), and some other misc (awesome) stuff.

Man, I kinda raked it in this year! 🆒

A lovely Fourth Doctor scarf–I’m not quite sure which season it is.
An equally lovely hat. Let’s just say that if a man walks down the street in this hat, people know he’s not afraid of anything. 😃

It was a rather geeky christmas, yes.

My darling got me a Kitchenaid stand mixer. Wonder what’s on her devious mind. 🙂

Let’s see. Various sausage/cheese/cakes/misc foods.

Couple of T-shirts that will come out when it’s time to go riding again.

That’s all that comes to mind at the moment. Will update if I remember anything interesting

He forgot about the dragon lamp for his desk ☹[http://www.designtoscano.com/product/code/CL5559.do](http://www.designtoscano.com/product/code/CL5559.do)

But I must say, the mixer was the best since he’s such an awesome baker!😃

A book that came with an apology. My sister-in-law saw a book she knew I would love and wouldn’t have seen and forgot that I had asked for “no presents for me - put a gift for an poor kid under a charity tree.” She did that with the rest of the gift money and everyone else did it for me. I was very pleased. Next year should be nothing…except gifts for poor kids.

Beat me? 😃

Santa put a really long string in my stocking. When I started to pull it out, there were pieces of Kisses and mint patties tied along the string in various places. There was also a Starbucks giftcard, concert tickets to Trans Siberian Orchestra, and finally reaching the end was also a symbol of our beginning - a silver wedding band with a Gaelic inscription 🙂 awwwwww (yes, I teared up just a wee bit).

I also got a totally cool “Your Intelligence is Stupid” Gir t-shirt.
A pair of D20 rear view mirror dice
Collectors edition of Beetle the Bard (almost as awesome as the ring)
a faerie oil burner & oils & a faerie/zodiac pewter box
Sex and the City the complete series on DVD.
Starbucks coffee cup & coffee set

Thats all I can think of at this time. I made out big this year so I wont need or want of anything for a few more years.
