If you ask 100 low-church Christians, every single one of them will say that “O Come O Come Emmanuel” is a Christmas carol.
If you ask a hundred, there’s pretty good odds that one of them will be the church’s music director, or a pedantic Doper, or someone else who would be aware of the distinction.
But yeah, most will call it a Christmas carol.
