How could they have survived to now if they’ve been in fresh water? 😕

Does anyone have a link from years back where someone introduced religious idols into their sea monkey tank and recorded the results? One of the best threads of all time.

I had some sea monkeys a few years back.

The package contained a tank, some salt, sea monkey eggs, and sea monkey food, and a scoop to measure the food. I was supposed to mix the salt (though it wasn’t labeled as salt) with some distilled water, let it set for a certain number of hours, and then add the eggs. I was supposed to top off the tank with distilled water when it got below a certain level. The salt, of course, didn’t evaporate with the water.

Anyway, if you’ve prepared the water according to instructions, it’s briny.

Take them to the local zoo. If that goes well, tomorrow you can take them to a movie or maybe a play.

We raised generations of sea monkeys in the same plastic tank that came with the kit. Honestly, you don’t have to do anything. The old ones will die and the new ones will grow up and replace them. It’s the ciiiircle of liiiiife…

If you want to kill them but want a kinder way, apparently freezing them is painless and humane. My sister used to work for PetSmart corporate, and they sent around a memo saying if you had to euthanize fish, that was the approved method. If PetSmart caught wind of an employee flushing a live fish, they’d be terminated. (The employee, not the fish. Although I guess the fish would be, too)

Buy a Betta fish and put it in with the brine shrimp.
Bettas _love_ eating live food. You’ll have a very happy fish, and your “sea monkeys” will be…well, eaten. But circle of life and all that.

Then of course you’ll have to convince your fish that inert fish kibble/flakes is actually food. Or get more brine shrimp.

Or freeze them. Most humane way.

Put them in a bigger “tank” (a 2 liter water bottle with the top cut off)-even got them an aereator which I’ll run twice a day for 5 minutes. Actually my niece the animal lover will probably love them (and since she is suffering from tonsillities right now that would probably lift her spirits).

As mentioned above, just feed them to some fish. My dad continually has brine shrimp cultures running for the sole purpose of feeding his fish. They get eaten every day. As a kid, when I first realized that Sea Monkeys were actually brine shrimp, I couldn’t stop laughing. Not only are they ridiculously over priced as Sea Monkeys, but I can’t help but think of them as fish food. And why would you want to keep fish food as pets?

(Of course, it makes me uncomfortable to think of cute little mice as snake food, but I acknowledge the logical inconsistency.)
