What do the Nader people believe?

I think the comment was meant to make an issue of the fact that your politics are waaaayyy out of the American mainstream.

As far as the Dems lack of a spine the past four years, you’ll get no disagreement with me- however, the President has set the agenda, and in the post 9/11 world, dissent has been a quick path to being removed from office. While Dems are often criticized for giving the president a ‘blank check,’ I tend to think that it was underwritten by an American public and media that conflated dissenter with ‘terrorist sympathizer.’

And that is exactly my point. The media and citizens set the stage fro the Dems to vote the way that they have over the last 2.5 years.

I still think voting the current administration out is more important than ideals at this point and will cast my vote appropriately.

And therefore what?

So the Democrats showed too much spine in the first two years of the Bush Administration and thus lost all those seats in Congress?

All the more onus on the Democrats to try to be the voice of reason, then, instead of going along with the flow. If they know the public opinion is misinformed, they shouldn’t sit back and allow it to develop further.
