So I was looking at the Pit thread entitled ["BickByro, "](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=60779), which was placed because of a Great Debate thread entitled [“Charity drive to feed the empty heads of the Nasa/moon conspiracy theorists”](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=60144). I actually went so far as to read the entire later debate just to figure out what was up. I have to say that **Nimune** owes me an entire fucking case of Advil® for drawing me to that train wreck. Then it occured to me that this guy **BickByro** could be added to the list of people like him. The only thing is I can’t think of a name for them. When I compile this list, you will know _exactly_ what I’m talking about, and maybe you can help me stamp a good SDMB-approved name for these types (if not add a few names to the list).[ul][li]The fucking circumcision jerk[/li][li]Creationists who keep on talking[/li][li]The fucking moon hoax jerk[/li][li]He who cannot be named (Begins with a P)[/li][li]The fucking Navaho-writing jerk[/li][li]John John (Dick Dick)[/ul]See, I know you know EXACTLY whom I’m talking about. Well, let’s look at the etymology for “Troll.” The word “troll” is neat because it has two completely different but highly appropriate meanings; “Troll” in the sense of trying to catch something - in this case, to try to get people to respond to a dumb message - or “troll” in the sense of a monster that hides in the dark. I can’t think of any way to extend the fishing metaphor, but why not some sort of monster with a little bit more brain power? Just thinking about everquest and D&D, you could call them “Orcs.” Or “Goblins.” Or maybe “Gollums,” if you wanted to be a little Tolkienesque. How about “Ogres”? Nah, already has a meaning. “Hobs” as short for “hobgoblin”? ---

Upon reading the GD thread in question, I must agree with **DDG**. **BickByro** is most certainly not acting in a trollish manner, and he appears also not to be a dedicated conspiracy freak. It seems to me that he is merely calling into question that which most of the posters accept as fact. He is doing so in an intelligent manner (besides being formatting impaired). So he frustrates you. Big schmeal. Answer him point by point. After all, this is exactly what he is doing. Convince him. I’ll raise my hand in his defense too. Stick around, **Bick**. ---

I kinda favor **Byro** too- I haven’t read all his stuff, but what I have read doesn’t seem to be quite on for trolling, re **DDG’s** and **DZ’s** remarks. There’s a faint whiff now and then, but I’ve seen worse from other, more ‘frequent’ poster in some of the shit-sticking contests here in the pit. Having said that, and having no opinion on the others mentioned (or not, as the case may be), (as I haven’t read enough of their stuff to feel comfortable forming an opinion) how about “Squit”? It jsut popped into my head upon reading the OP… [sub]‘fucker’ works for me too…[/sub] ---

Oh my God… where were you people when I needed you?!? Just kidding. Thanks a lot for all the support, Duck Duck Goose, Ogre and Inor. I always thought that everything I was doing was somewhere, deep down inside, done in the “spirit of Cecil.” To be on the receiving end of your compliments is a fine thing indeed. Sorry about being formatting-impaired! I’ll study that section of the SDMB while I’m looking over all the new evidence. And if I’m not mistaken, Smeghead was paying me a compliment (perhaps indirectly?). Fighting ignorance from deep within the enemy camp, indeed. I, too, wouldn’t call Bicky a troll. I’d simply call him stubborn. Very, very stubborn. Almost - dare I say it? - admirably stubborn. But still, stubborn does not an argument make.
