WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP)—A quadriplegic has sued a strip club, charging that it violates the Americans with Disabilities Act because the lap dance room does not have wheelchair access. Edward Law, of Orlando, sued the Wildside Adult Sports Cabaret last month after visiting the West Palm Beach club on May 9 and June 14. The lap dance room is only accessible by a short flight of stairs, according to the suit. It also alleges that the counter around the stage where strippers dance is too high, making it difficult for Law to see the stage and set down his drinks. —And aren’t Eddie’s family _proud_ of him! ---

**Eve** : the ADA should only apply to the sorts of establishments you approve of? I wouldn’t _expect_ that to be where you’re coming from, but I’m having trouble parsing your words in any other way. ---

Somehow I don’t think that’s what she’s getting at. I just think it’s funny that he’s got the balls to sue an establishment like this. Probably not just anyone would want their name associated with a case like this. But hey, _someone_ has to fight for the strip clubbin’ folk out there! 🙂 ---

Heh heh heh. I’m still sitting here giggling at the thought of **Eve** fighting for her rights to a lap dance. Somehow it’s hard to picture a distinguished woman holding a picket sign standing in front of a **Chippendale’s** hollering the thread title. 😃 And why do they need to do lap dances in another room? The strip joints around here just do lap dances right out in front of everybody. Not that I would know, or anything. 😉 ---

Not enough women fight for their rights for lap dances. I guess they still don’t. A shame, really… But as for this guy…are you sure you meant “quadriplegic”? Because, for some reason, I can’t really see a quadriplegic enjoying a lap dance all that much. What, with no ability to feel. And how does he stick the dollar bills in the strippers’ G-strings? I always get yelled at when I use my teeth. I don’t know, this whole thing just sounds silly to me. It’s like a blind man bitching that they wouldn’t allow him to bring his dog into a strip club. It just doesn’t make sense. But you do have to give the guy credit for fighting the, ummm…good (?) fight. ---

Incidentally, per the report I heard on the radio this morning, the establishment has stated that Mr. Law could have received a lap dance in another part of the bar, had he chosen to do so. I’ll have to see if I can find a cite to back that up. ---

I enjoy the punch line at the end of the story… that he’s also recently sued for ADA deficiency at an Orlando restaurant and… wait for it… a HARLEY-DAVIDSON DEALERSHIP. I can understand how a guy who cannot feed himself would be irate at a restaurant for not complying to ADA standards (virtually all do, they’re big-time Public Accomodations). But there’s no way Mr. Law can possibly hope to avail himself of the wares of the Harley dealership. ---

If one-legged people ride bikes and paraplegics ride trikes, a quadriplegic might be able to rig up a reliable seating and remote control setup. Based on that very short newspiece, it strikes me that Mr. Law is more interested in picking a fight than he is in getting a bike, dinner or a lapdance, but I do not know Mr. Law and I don’t know the whole story. Besides, he seems to have set himself up as an advocate, and picking fights is what advocates do.
