> I’m going to hazard a guess alcohol was involved, possibly a considerable amount at other venue(s) before arriving there. I don’t see a relatively sober cadre of women going to see female strippers as likely.

To each his, or her, own, I guess.

Women must be different - in fact, I am pretty sure they are in other ways, but I am trying to figure out how much my desire to see male strippers would be affected by my level of intoxication. And the answer is ‘not much’. If I want to see what they have on display, I can just drop trou. Maybe they display it more artistically, but that doesn’t address the basic issue.

I wouldn’t be morally outraged if one or more of my friends suggested a visit to a female-oriented strip club, but I wouldn’t see the point of it either.

Shodan

This woman does.

I am a woman, no disrespect taken I assure you.

Oh, and I think of this quote whenever I see women scantily clad as part of their work.

Yeah, it’s not better or worse than food from some place like Chili’s. I know people who actually go there for their wings. That’s kind of the thing they are known for (other than the T&A). I don’t think the wings are anything to write home about, but they do have enough of a following that they market their sauces and they even have a fast-casual restaurant spin-off called “Hoots” here in the Chicago area (Cicero, specifically) which doesn’t do the short-shorts, hires men in addition to women for ordering, and has an abbreviated menu that concentrates on the buffalo wings and shrimp. So, basically, the only reason you would go to Hoots is because you like Hooters food and don’t care about the eye candy.

When our son was 12 or so, every time we’d go out to eat he’d say, “I wanna go to Hooters.”

One day my wife decided to call his bluff. He chickened out when we got to the parking lot, but she would have gone right in there and had a plate of wings and a beer without a second thought.

Of course, she wouldn’t have done that if it were some place like an actual strip club, but it isn’t like she would need a fainting couch.

I’ve been to Hooters with my wife several times, including way back when they all had to bare their bellies. It’s not a strip club, they’re dressed like typical young women often do in real life and in TV and movies. Last time we were at Hooters was a few years back in Baltimore. I don’t recall any young kids, but otherwise seemed like the crowd you’d find at Chili’s. I asked the waitress if I could buy a bottle of their hot sauce for my collection, she said they weren’t allowed to sell the bottles used in the store, but after paying the check she came up to me with a bottle of the sauce in a bag to go. I remember that far more than what she looked like. After all, I have seen young women wearing shorts and T-shirts before.

I went to Hooters once. The waitress thought I was really cool— not like the jerks she’d been waiting on all day. We were going to go out on a date, but she had to study for a test that night and every night after that. I know she really liked me, because right away she wanted to meet all my friends. She even said she’d sell us a bucket of Bud Light if we promised not to tell anyone.

This is my thought exactly. Who would describe a Hooters girl as “scantily clad”?

> “I am not interested in a world where men really want to watch porn but resist because they’ve been shamed. I’m interested in a world where men are raised from birth with such an unshakable understanding of women as human beings that they are incapable of being aroused by their exploitation.” Jonah Mix

Well then you’re interested in a world of something other than human beings. You’re interested in some kind of creature who is unaffected by the visual cues of the sexual characteristics of the human body. Anyone who wants this kind of world, I suggest they obtain their advanced degrees in neuroscience, psychology, and organic chemistry sooner rather than later, so they can get to work running an applied genetic engineering lab as soon as possible. I also hope this person has a lot of money to fund the project.

That’s assuming the individual responsible for the original quote thinks that “all depictions of people engaged in sexual activity or in a state of nudity” is “exploitation.” Also, there are men who watch porn that doesn’t involve women. Are the individuals in that porn also being exploited?

This is such utopian prudery-masquerading-as-progressivism, the dude might as well just join the LDS and get his “garments” on before the turgidity of the male organ causes his cheese to slide off his cracker.

I sometimes wonder why anyone even bothers to start these kinds of “What do women think?” threads here. They always rapidly turn into threads about what _men_ think, with the few women who respond being criticized if they don’t agree with the men.

Scantily clad women e.g. at the beach, or a night club, I don’t pay them much mind, or might check out their outfit if it’s striking. Scantily clad employees make me uncomfortable and I stay away. I figure I am not their target market.

Not according to any waitress I’ve met in my previous 10 years in the restaurant biz.

In a strip bar, I think that many women who go are simply finding it fascinating, instructive or sexy. Women who go to Hooters with their husbands are just accepting of the fact that their husbands like to check out skanky chicks.

Have you ever been to Hooters? They are not skanky chicks. It’s not that kind of place. I don’t know why Hooters has been lumped in with strip clubs.

I was going to say it’s one step down from a strip club, but it’s at least two steps down when you consider Twin Peaks in the mix. Yes, I’ve been. I don’t know where you live that average young ladies wear short shorts with nylons.

This.
If you really want to know what women think, go find a board with a lot fewer men than women. Or maybe, no men.
