Currently in Grad School trying to get my teaching certificate to hopefully become a Chemistry Teacher. I have a chemistry degree, but so far have only “used” it for three months of my life. I’m soon to be starting my 6th job in 12 months. For 13 years, hotel fixer-upper. Worked for all of the major brands & not-so-major. Basically, if I saw a run-down hotel or heard of one not making money, I would offer my managerial abilities to the owner. I would renovate, train and/or motivate the staff. Met many celebs. Loved the people & the job, hated the hours, weekends & holidays. Now I do the same thing only with commercial real esate - office builings, warehouse/flex space. Until May (when I was downsized) I was an engineer. Hoping to get back into microbiology (which my degree is in) when I go back to work. An interesting thread for me. Most of the several of you who had dropped hints have checked in and I’ve got to learn a little more about the rest of the respondents. PB - very interesting; I had thought from hints that you’d dropped that you were a regular old _Fast Times at Ridgemont High_ kind of HS teacher (uh, don’t ask me what the hell that means), but I’m certainly more impressed now w/both your depth and _need_ for depth. Can’t get back to everybody right now, but… Stoidela - great! I would’ve guessed that you might try to bring an historical perspective to all that skin; Mike King - very interesting; got to go check you out again in the Great Debates; Several students in various stages of matriculation (or ascendancy, however your worldview fits) and, not a surprise (in a digital telecom medium), lots of IT people. And folks such as Jophiel who ask good questions and do something different from me (not that I think it’s strange or anything, J; I’ll bet you know as many garden guys as I do grease doctors). Anyway, keep’em coming, if there’s more of you out there… ---

I’m a medical transcriptionist who works out of my own home. The work is kind of boring (sitting in front of the computer in my basement for eight hours a day, typing away), but I make good money and I don’t have to fight rush hour traffic. On the minus side, I’ve become a hermit who never leaves the house anymore. Of course, if my husband would just buy that second car that I think we really need, maybe I could get out more (too bad he doesn’t read this, he’s not paying attention to the daily hints I keep dropping) Shadowfox ---
