I no longer remember who I heard this from, but they weren’t talking about battery chickens. They had friends who said they couldn’t understand how they could bring themselves to eat the chickens that they raised, and the answer was: “If you knew these chickens like we know these chickens, you’d know why we can eat these chickens!” ---

Our hens start out life as chicks in our home. We teach them simple tricks, using mealworms as treats. They fall asleep on our laps. Our dogs are taught to be gentle with them. Once they’re old enough, they are moved outside. We harvest their eggs, but would never consider slaughtering them for a meal. Although they aren’t dogs/cats they are still pets to us. My daughter lived with us for 6 months a few years ago. She spent time sitting in the yard while the hens foraged. She became a vegetarian because of this. She and her husband are vegetarians and that makes me, an omnivore, very happy. ---

I have good friends whose chickens live long lives and die of old age. My cats are unrepentant hunting carnivores, and I love them too. ---

On the dinosaur thing, I believe firmly and without evidence that they did not roar the way they are typically depicted. While there may be some physical evidence in their fossils indicating they could make noises with their throat, I am confident they did not make roar noises, any more than the possibility they could talk to one another in some dino-language. ---

Karma. Be good and you are less likely to have bad things happen to you. It does work though. Blow me off when I need help, I’m less likely to help you when you do. I also think that this gets multiplied again and again. Pulled a guy out of the snow yesterday with my 4-runner. A contractor of some sort. The other contractor that had a 4x4 truck right there wouldn’t do it (I was told). It was ridiculously easy. I always lend a hand when I can. If I have a religion, it’s based on Karma. ---

I believe that there is SOMETHING very strange going on, although I have no idea what, about the fact that some people have won big lottery jackpots multiple times. As a general rule I would say any “lawyer” who spends more time doing interviews on TV and other public appearances rather **actually practicing** law are **NOT** worth hiring. ---
