# What do you do while waiting for a slow Internet response.

The boards are loading slow tonight, and it’s freezing cold, so I choose three threads, right click and “Open in a new window” on all of them, then I skip off to the lounge, and read a few pages of my book in front of the heater. When I’m toasty warm again, I come back to the computer, and with any luck the pages have loaded. I read them, choose three more, and go back to the heater and my book.
I probably should just go to bed. One advantage of living in Australia - my day is your night, so when all the US Dopers are sleeping soundly, I can read the boards to my heart’s content, and it’s much faster to load.

Me too. I also make frequent trips to the kitchen for beer, or tonight, Mike’s hard lemonade.

At work, I…well, work. 🙂
At home, I’ll play something on my secondary monitor that runs in a window, like solitaire, jezzball or run an emulator that runs in a window (gens, nesten, callus or the like). Nothing like a bit of golden axe II or burning force whilst waiting for a pgae to load…
If I’m feeling REALLY daring I’ll fire up Unreal in a window or Ultima Online (one of my friends runs a custom server).
