I was standing by the toaster this morning, and looking at the 20 some jars of raspberry jam that Martha Stewart (aka my sister) left behind this week. Every year she comes to visit and raid my berries for jam. I still have 20 or so jars from last year. With only two of us in the house, and noting that 90 percent of the time we don’t have breaky at home, guess what everyone is getting for Christmas this year.

What do you like on your toast? I’m usually a cinnamon person, or if I’m having eggs, I eat them on my toast.

If I’m having eggs, I just put a little butter on my toast, and put the eggs on them.

Toast on its own, it’s a toss-up between cream cheese or orange marmalade.

I love fruit preserves, as long as there are no seeds in it. I’ll also put a little peanut butter on my toast, but just enough to give the toast some flavor. (I’m trying to watch my weight).

When not eaten dry, I put Robertson’s Lime Marmelade on my toast. No butter, ever.

Butter and Gerber’s apricots or peaches.

Yeah, I’m weird but there’s no added sugar, nothing artificial and it’s scrump-dilli-icious!

Orange Marmalade is my favorite.

Grape Jelly is most common (I know – it’s like vanilla ice cream)

Peanut Butter and Honey is a great change of pace. (Make sure the toast is still hot!)
I once put a piece of toast on a piece of toast. At first I couldn’t tell the difference between that and just one piece of toast – then I got the idea to put some ham and cheese between the pieces of toast. 😉

Butter and low-sugar strawberry preserves. I don’t get the low-sugar kind for the reduced calories (it’s probably only about 20-30 calories difference) but because regular preserves is _way_ too sweet for me, to the point of tasting metallic.

Chief - the peach stuff doesn’t sound bad at all, I have the same problem with peach preserves that I do with strawberry preserves.

Real butter or peanut butter or any home-made nut butter. Cashews actually make a nice spread. I’ve tried almonds, pecans and walnuts. And of course I have to have a cup of coffee or milk on the side. Come on over CanadianSue; we can discuss TWPM!

Raspberry freezer jam when I can get it.

Regular raspberry jam when I can’t.

Anything else is a disappointment but I seldom eat toast without something sweet on top.

Can you put me on your Christmas list, **Sue**?

Nothing I like mine dry. I do however like homemade jam and honey occcasionally on a buttermilk biscuit or english muffin. I also love my sandwiches toasted. Which would be lettuce, tomato and mayo on toast…tuna/chicken salad with lettuce on toast…Or grilled cheese or a grilled reuben…or …But when eating bacon, eggs and toast, I take it dry, no butter or jam.

Chief Scott,

You should try Pollaners All Fruit if you don’t like sugar and preservatives. Pretty good stuff, specially the raspberry.

=======================

I rarely eat toast but when I do it’s usually with eggs, over easy.

Buttered toast with drippy egg yolk – yummmmm. Now I am hungry!
