Besides a good time? **Strainger** , **Padeye** , **Padeye’s friend** (a soon-to-be Doper 😉 ) and myself met tonight for a wonderful chat over large amounts of coffee and had a wonderful time, despite the presence of Padeye’s camera. 😛 I must say, Dopefests aren’t scary at all! They’re really quite fun and for a first-timer, I’ve enjoyed meeting some wonderful people. ---

It was a rather low key 'fest compared to the Los Angeles blowout but a nice little meeting. [Lel](http://members.home.com/spad1/images/phxfest/lel.jpg) was a bit reserved, keeping a tight hold on her purse which was understandable under the circustances. [Strainger](http://members.home.com/spad1/images/phxfest/strainger.jpg) was his usual jovial self, this time fueld by a couple of extra jumbo cappucinos rather than… what were you drinking in LA? [Cindy and I](http://members.home.com/spad1/images/phxfest/cindy_Padeye.jpg) rounded out the mini-fest. Cindy isn’t a doper yet but an all around cool person that will fit in nicely. ---

As I do at every Dopefest I had a great time Saturday night. I enjoyed attempting to corrupt the newbie with **Padeye** (although he was doing a much better job of it); I think we can eventually get her to bow to our evil ways. We _must_ get a Phoenix Rocky Horror Picture Dopefest together and **lel** _must_ attend. Trust me when I say I _needed_ those large cappucinos. I was exhausted, and the cappucinos helped carry me until I went to bed. Some things I learned Saturday: 1. **lel** , while quite reserved, is cool, and will become even more cool once she’s evil like the rest of us. 2. Apparently I look permanently stoned, at least to **Padeye**. He didn’t state it explicitly but definitely implied it through his hemming and hawing. Do I look permanently stoned to the rest of you Dopers, at least the ones who have met me? 3. Cindy and I used to live pretty close to one another when I was a little kid in Ft. Wayne, IN. She’s familiar with the school I attended for half of Kindergarten. I think she beat me up on the playground. 4. I need to get a digital camera. Also, the $200 extra I pay for an underwater housing may very well be worth it. 5. There is a [Mullets Galore](http://www.mulletsgalore.com) calendar out for 2002! Run, don’t walk, to your nearest calendar retailer and get one! And _I_ was naked, but only from the waist down. ---

Now now Strainger. I don’t think you look stoned but you do pose a little stiff for photographs. I think what you need is a cowboy hat 😃 That’d fix you right up. Cindy enjoyed meeting everyone and will soon become a doper once she decided on a handle. ---

What, I drink two large cappucinos and I’m supposed to look _relaxed_? And yes, I would like a cowboy hat. Actually, I would like a western style hat, not a cowboy hat like what they wear at country bars. ---
