When my roommates are around we keep it at 70 or 72, and when they’re gone I put it down to 60. I feel kind of bad about using so much heat, but we can easily afford our gas bill, so should I? Am I even using that much? The most recent bill was $70 for 7.1MMBTU. What do you guys use? ---

67 during the day and 64 at night. We have a mod house with a lot of big windows though, and the thermostat is in the warmest most central part of the house, so most of the space actually stays colder than that. I’d say the average temp in the house is 65 during the day and 60 at night. ---

My wife gets cold easily, so it’s set at 71 during the day and 67 at night. The day setting works okay when the wind is blowing, as our house is a bit leaky, but on still days, it becomes too stuffy for me. I keep the vent in the computer room partially closed so I have a refuge. And for the record, I really hate forced-air heating. ---

1. I tweak it down, my gf tweaks it up. When I was living alone I went through a “whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” phase. I was handling 50 by sleeping in a polar sleeping bag. ---

I chose 68, but it’s actually at 67. Much of the house is colder than that because it’s drafty and the baseboard heaters seem to be in all the wrong places, but I’m not turning it up because BGE sucks and they can’t have more of my money. I’ll wear thicker socks. ---

I don’t feel like personal comfortable heat is environmentally damaging, but it is the appropriate use of resources. Don’t mind saving money on it however. ---

60ºF, turned down when we go to bed or if we’re away. Propane is expensive, and we’re acclimatised to the cooler environment. (For the most part. It’s nice to be toasty occasionally.) ---

If I had it my way it would be 55 here 24/7 but my husband isn’t the polar bear I am so it stays between 65-70. Anything past 68 is too hot and stuffy for me so I sleep with the ceiling fan on and my feet sticking out of the covers. ---

I don’t know if I even have a thermostat. I have radiators, but I have no idea how to turn them on or control temperature. I’m too cheap to have the heating on ever. Sitting in my armchair with an electric blanket over my legs. Good practice for if I’m ever in a wheelchair. ---

65 when I’m home and awake, 55 when I’m gone and overnight. I do have a waterbed, so I don’t get cold when I’m sleeping. I love my programmable thermostat and it has saved me a lot of money over the last three years. ---

I have a programmable thermostat, and we have it set up so that the temperature is set to 73 when we are home and awake, 68 when we are asleep, and 60 when we are at work. ---
