Mormon Crickets have to Invade to Survive:

Scary stuff. Were I around when the crickets were munching down on the Mormons’ first crops out in SLC, I woulda thought the coming of the Seagulls was a miracle, too. Apparently these crickets will eat their own fallen and ailing.  
I never saw these when I was out there, but I swear that every footstep in the hills around SLC would send over a dozen grasshoppers flying.
