I actually just watched the Canada Remembers Air Show from the roof of my garage.
Sure, there may be a few trees in the way, and the shingles might burn off my toe-prints, but it’s free, isn’t it?

An elementary school. It’s a block and a half down the street.
An airport too, just about 5 miles away.
So there’s loud from the jets flying overhead, and loud from the bazillion kids in this neighborhood. It’s a nice neighborhood, though!

Next door to a high school. Next to that is Lake St. Clair, which should have been declared one of the Great Lakes years ago, except for all the politics. I also live within two miles of a military base, so we have planes flying overhead at all times of the day and night. There is also a freeway within a couple of miles of the house. This freeway runs right along the edge of the military base. I’m just waiting for the day that one of those planes crash lands into rush hour traffic.

My bedroom window looks toward a garden farm and across the street is a cemetary. Four cows live kitty-corner from me. Altogether a pretty quiet place for the suburbs of central New Jersey.

I live in a housing development. Right by me is a lake. Also, about a half mile from my house, is the former site for the annual Punkin Chunkin, a local event wherein drunken rednecks use hydraulic cannons to see who can throw a frozen pumpkin the farthest distance.
No, I am not making this up.
And they wonder why I’m getting out of Delaware…

Well, real close by is a 24-hour grocery/discount megahumongo store. That comes in handy. Not too far away in the other direction is an airport. There is no commercial jumbo jet traffic, but it’s one of the busiest in the state. Tons of small planes flying in and out. Also the goodyear blimp on game Saturdays (not to mention numerous advertising planes). It’s fun because we don’t really have problem with the noise, just lots of planes. It tends to remind me to notice the sky when the weather is beautiful. A really cool biplane buzzed our house the other day.

I live… 4 miles from my HS, 4.5 from my JHS, 2.5 from my Elementary school, less than 4 from ANY restaurant in town, 2.6 miles from work, 2.3 from the Mall, less than 3 miles from any of 5 gas stations, and less than 2.5 miles from my Church… Crazy in a town of over 25,000…
