We live in New Orleans, in the MidCity neighborhood. $930.00/mo, water included for a 1100 sq. ft. half of a shotgun double with a large back shed, but no yard to speak of. Neighborhood is great, pretty blue-collar.

Here in college, I and each of my four housemates pay $500/month for the house we rent. We each have our own bedroom, 2 bath, washer and dryer downstairs, all utilities included. It’s in a small town in New York, located in upper collegetown (the quieter part). It’s considered a good price for rent…but if I was looking to live with fewer friends, rent would inevitably be more expensive.

My folks have a mortgage, but they’re renting our old house out. It’s in Oakland, CA, in a nice area up on the hills. 4200 sq ft, 4 1/2 bath, renting for $5000/month.
