With ordinary supermarket ramen I usually add diced onions, napa cabbage, [Guilin sauce](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guilin#Cuisine), and tofu or surimi.

> We’ve recently been getting the Mama brand (Thai ramen) [Tom Yum Goong](http://www.mama.co.th/All_Product/Popup.asp?lp=_EN&ID=2&pdID=35) and add a few frozen shrimp in with the noodles.

What’s _really_ good is their “Shrimp Creamy Tom Yum” variety. It’s the one in a bigger, gold-colored wrapper. It comes with three separate flavoring packets – soup base, chili paste, and red pepper. If you use them all it’s crazy spicy and very flavorful. There’s no other ramen like it.
