What do you regret giving away?

My black leather motorcycle jacket. I had it my senior year of high school and it was really cool. Once I got to college, however, it just didn’t fit my style anymore, so I gave it to my cousin who it was perfect for. Years later, though, I really wish I had it again because it was just so cool and worn in, and I would definitely wear it every once in a while.

My heart.

Also, my kidneys.

Wow, usually they just show them holding a bat or something.

I can’t think of anything I’ve given away with regret. That, however, is because my mom and sister never game me the chance as they’d always cleaned out my things, Lionel trains, comics, records, baseball card collection, when I’d leave for summer camp.

It’s Swedish for Mother’s Mother. My grandma.

WHAT? Are you sure? Or are you not checking used bookstores? I loved those too, and though I always read cheapo paperbacks and they aren’t as common as they used to be–I still see tons of them at Half-Price books and other used bookstores.

You may mean hardcovers. Of that I have no idea.

One year for Christmas about ten years ago…

I was late twenties, had gone back to live at home. My sister, a teenager, lived there too. And the PhraseFolks.

We all, of course, LOVE the movie A Christmas Story .
On Christmas Day, the three of them managed to have ‘delivered’ a large box, marked FRAGILE (I even commented, “Fra-geeelay! That’s Italian!” )

It was addressed to me and when I opened it up…there was my very own Leg Lamp. They had found a mannequin shop and bought a leg, the sis eyeballed the right size shoe at Goodwill, BrassyPop wired it for a lamp, and BrassyMom made a lampshade into a skirt.

The coolest gift ever.

But soon after, I moved into a very small apartment and had no room and had left it at the PhraseFolks. I’ve moved again since and never went and got it, though it was displayed at Christmas every year. When they downsized into a smaller home, they had a series of yard sales to get rid of STUFF.

At one, the Leg Lamp was sold. I asked about it this Christmas, and BrassyMom said that she had sold it to a woman that was planning on sending it to her son deployed in Iraq.

So I miss it…but it’s allegedly traveling the globe!

Heh, I thought I’d be the only one! When I graduated high school I gave a GIANT box of Legos to the son of the people I was living with. I hope he’s gotten some enjoyment out of them, but damn if I don’t wanna sneak into that house and steal them back sometimes…

My bluesbrothers hat. The diving club that I’m a member of have the bluesbrother outfit as a dresscode when socialising. Every autumn we get our freindship divingclub from Finland visiting us for a week, and at the last day we also have a big party, so in a happy intoxicated state I gave it away. And now I can’t find a store that has any hats that look the same. So, practically speaking I regrett giving away that hat, but deep down I know that its noit a big deal

My collection of MAD books. I didn’t exactly give them away, but sold them for cheap at a yard sale and someone got one hell of a bargain on them. How I wish I still had those books! :frowning: My only hope of ever getting any of them back is eBay or going to a used bookstore.
