He posted numerous funny bits. Then he died. The wally emoticon was in his honor. He would affectionately use the term “putz”. Ergo, the smiley got “putz” coming out of its mouth. It was later discovered that much of wally’s material was not his own creation and obtained from other sources, and that his death was probably not real, either. Between the wally “putz” emoticon being used counter to board instructions (i.e. as an insult outside the Pit), and the controversy over Wally himself, the emoticon was retired. ---

I just wish there was a sticking-tongue-out smiley that indicated sticking your tongue out “nyah!” style and not the one we have right know which just looks like a cutesy giggle/smile. When I do 😛 I’m not going for 😛 ---
