Well, yes. We know exactly what effective gun control would look like, because nearly every nation on the planet has been able to succeed at it. But since the gun-grabbers fight tooth and nail against anything that would actually work, we have to settle for what we can get. ---

Well in the sense of “give the government an absolute authority to forbid people to own guns”, sure; that would make effective gun control extremely easy. Many governments use similar methods to make dissent control effective too. ---
