If these guns are good enough for Judge Dredd, they’re good enough for me!
To this point, while not wrong, it is misleading IMHO. Most of the “security theater” precautions were based on what were considered real threats at the time, even if the assumptions were proven incorrect, and they continue to linger because, well, YES, the theater is effective somewhat, and changing the regulations takes an act of congress ( ).
We’re not YET at that stage. Trying (and I said upthread where I would want to try) to evaluate how effective the techniques are, and if they work as intended and increase safety is the step we’re on right now.
Lawgivers explode when an unauthorized user attempts to fire it.
Exactly!
Well, yes. We know exactly what effective gun control would look like, because nearly every nation on the planet has been able to succeed at it. But since the gun-grabbers fight tooth and nail against anything that would actually work, we have to settle for what we can get.
Well in the sense of “give the government an absolute authority to forbid people to own guns”, sure; that would make effective gun control extremely easy. Many governments use similar methods to make dissent control effective too.
Yes, governments are capable of doing both good and evil things.
The debate of course is which category gun control falls under.
Moderating
But, not in this thread. OK.
This is not a gun control debate thread.
What happens when the user wears gloves, which we see increasing numbers of military and SWAT teams doing these days?
Yes, of course that is one big issue.
