Zach Galifianakis. I like pretty much all stand-up that I’ve seen, but I saw his act on DVD, and was largely unimpressed. Occasional funniness, too much just-being-drunk-ness. ---

Cars. I own one, so I clearly consider them useful, but: (1) if taking the train is faster, cheaper, or easier for a particular trip, I do that. Yes, easier. Sleeping or surfing the web as someone else “drives” downtown is easy. 🆒 Grinding along in stop-and-go traffic on the "express"way is not. I bought a condo a short walk from a suburban train station so I could both have a car **and** take the train as I choose. (2) it’s a tool for transportation, not an indicator of my status, not a symbol of freedom (see par. 1), not a member of my family. I have a 1998 Ford Escort sedan that I bought new and will keep until it stops running reliably. I bought a sedan so I could carry passengers without doing the fetal-position bend to let them into the backseat of a coupe. I bring it regularly to the mechanic so it runs properly (like a top it does! :D) and I wash it at a gas-station car wash if it gets dirty. I don’t baby it, I don’t bring it to the mechanic every three months when I drive 300 miles or less a month, and I don’t ever “detail” it. :rolleyes: If I ever buy some shiny chrome or faux-chrome gew-gaw “accessory” for it (free bumper stickers don’t count), my friends will know I’ve fallen victim to a Body Snatcher because it ain’t really me. 😉 Cars are over-rated. ---
