# What do you think of this college policy?

I strongly suspect that, in a college dorm, the purpose of a fire drill is not so much making sure everyone knows what to do if a fire alarm sounds, as it is making sure everyone takes a fire alarm seriously.

Wow, a “teachable moment” with my wife, how patriarchal of you. The only thing I teach my wife about is using new apps on her phone.

And I spoke to my two older daughters, both also in college, they both have/had fire drills in their dorms. Maybe you should consider the possibility that just handing dorm residents a map [wasn’t working.](https://www.wral.com/news/state/story/1981717/)
