Itā€™s mostly coastal stuff to meā€”rocky beaches, taking the canoe out into some bay near Tofino, dropping the crab pot, catching 40 lbs of salmon in under an hour, all the while hoping the orcas beneath us donā€™t take our herring (theyā€™d be a tougher fight than the salmon!), paddling back to shore, tossing out all but 4 or 5 monster dungeoness (sp?) crabs and having a helluva camp fire at dusk & gorging on crab & mussels. Neat. Also Princess cruises from Seattle to Victoria. ---

In no particular order ā€¦ Wine. Marijuana. Surfing. Skiing. Climbing. People who like outdoor sports. Salmon. Warm weather. Rain. Lots of natives. Politicians named ā€˜Campbell.ā€™ Adbusters Magazine. All my friends from school ā˜¹ My suggestion: definitely go with the soft fruit producers. Nobody doesnā€™t love (at least one of) wine, peaches, or cherries. (At least, nobody Iā€™m interested in knowing!) ---

For some reason, my first thought when I think of B.C. is the (gold?) medal winning Olympic snowboarder who got busted for pot. Also the X-Files and Dark Angel and Harsh Realm and most every other Fox Friday night show from the ninetiesā€¦ ---

B.C.? The comic strip by Johnny Hart, of course, nothing else. Oh, British Columbia! No, I never think of British Columbia when I hear ā€œB.C.ā€ā€“just the comic strip. What do I think of when I hear ā€œBritish Columbiaā€? Trees, yup, trees, certainly got those trees, and rain, rain on trees, yup. Oh, and vampire detectives and swordfighting immortals. ---

Iā€™ve never been to british columbia, though iā€™ll be visiting this summer. From the pictures Iā€™ve seen, I would think of lots of clouds, wilderness, green. Kind of like oregon but more extreme. I also have heard a lot about having british-style tea in Victoria for some reason. When I hear B.C. I also think of boston college, but probably because Iā€™m still trying to get over the whole applying to college deal. ---

Mountains, ocean, trees, rain. For fruit, strawberries that actually taste like strawberries, not cardboard. Sidewalks and streets blocked by crews filming bad tv shows and movies. Athletes (ok, one) getting busted for pot, politicians (ok, one) getting busted for drunk driving. For the flakes out there, Sasquatch, Ogopogo and UFOs. **Zoogirl** , depending which Campbell youā€™re aiming at, save a tomato for me. šŸ˜‰ ---

I endorse the winery / agriculture / scenic angle, and Iā€™ll raise you historic features, if the loss of the Kettle Valley trestles arenā€™t as sore a point as they were in August. Thereā€™s a lot of history in them thar hills, and tourists tend to look for an historical element. My instinct is to leave the sporting aspects out - Weā€™re going to be overdone in the next six years, and Iā€™ll bet there will be someone else in the project who will want to play up the ski hills etc. Sigh, My dream is a B&B in the Okanagan.
