The wife and I have reached the point where we’ve got everything we want. Plus we’ve run out of space again, even though where we live now is almost twice as big as the last place we owned; we can’t cram any more junk in here. So we usually concentrate on a really nice meal out instead. Sometimes I’ll get her a new watch (she has several) or something – unlike most Thai ladies, she’s not much into gold or jewelry – and this year I’ve told her I’m in dire need of socks and underwear. Chocolate is a biggie on our gift-giving list to each other, too. ---

I really needed a new bicycle so I asked my parents for that. Not only did they decide to spend about twice what I would have expected them to spend, but my father’s hatred of Christmas crowds induced them to take me out shopping for it last weekend. I found a totally awesome Giant that they needed to order for me in an ‘extra small’ (I’m tiny) and I’m picking it up tomorrow! Thanks parents! It’s so shiny! I can hardly wait. So yeah, Christmas is pretty much tomorrow for me and I’m getting exactly what I want. ---

A watch would be nice, one that I can wear and see, not too expensive or dressy. A 1/4" quilting foot for my sewing machine. Somebody paying attention Do I think I’ll get it? Not likely. Maybe the watch, if I mention it to the kids. If my husband does it it will be too nice for me to want to wear all the time. He won’t think the quilting foot is enough of a present. Oh, and maybe a little cheese to go with this whine. Hey, I think it’s past my bedtime. ---

A Kitchenaid mixer. In a fun color like turquoise. Will I get it? Probably not, they’re a bit pricey and I’d probably have to bake a LOT more for my SO to think it useful. So, I just wish and hope someday I’ll have enough money and storage space to buy several different colors (to go with my ever-changing decor, of course). ---

I’m hoping for a new widescreen monitor. I currently have a 4:3 19" and when I try to work from home using AutoCAD Electrical I only have a tiny little window to work in once the sidebars and project manager take up all the rest of the space. ---

Nothing. By that I mean I want to get no thing for myself and I would like to be able to spend modest amounts of time and money on buying gifts for my family. No, won’t happen. I know that I will get tons of extravagant gifts that I will never use and I will be expected to reciprocate. If that sounds like a grumpy complaint - it is. That’s why I’m saying it on a message board and not to my fam. ---

For Christmas this year I want: - A jewelry cleaner. Like one of those things where you put the jewelry in a bath of ammonia and water and it vibrates the jewelry clean. - A Soap Smasher. It’s this thing that smashes all of the soft leftover end pieces of soap into one whole bar, like a mold. - A really good back scratcher. What can I say, I have a perpetually itchy back. - A really good dictionary. I ain’t holding out much hope. My family are not great scholars. Man, I must be getting old. This is a BORING list. ---

Same thing I ask for **EVERY** year, and every year I don’t get it: A Paul McCartney Beatle bass guitar in blue. I have the Rogue, but it’s in the regular finish and I have a Jones for blue guitars. Every one of mine (cept for the Rogue) is blue. But you know what? Sometimes it’s _good_ to want what you can’t have, 'cause just think what an anti-climax that would be!😃 Q ---

I always have a horrible time thinking of things I want. My husband doesn’t really like to buy “practical” gifts, so if I say I need new shirts, he’ll tell me to just go buy them. I’m not in to “decorative items” because there’s no place to put them. I’m a SAHM, so it’s not like I need or even want jewelry. Maybe this year I’ll finally get some CDs and DVDs. I always provide a very detailed list with artist and title and everything, but I just don’t get them. We really need a new humidifier. Our dishwasher is leaking. The speakers in my car are dying, one by one. See - I’m boring! I know we’re getting a Childrens’ Museum membership from my in-laws. (It’s on sale right now and I emailed my mother-in-law to let her know we wanted it.) ---

Mom is pushing for my list already. Unfortunately, for small gifts I’m disinclined to ask for any of the standard three (books, DVD, or CDs). Mostly because I’m getting ready to move, and I just got rid of a bunch of all three items,and am in no mood to replace.
