My husband and I don’t buy gifts for each other. We just buy big things that we both want/will use. This year we got a futon for our family room and a freezer. Last year we got a digital camera. I didn’t know I wanted it until my grandma asked if she should buy us one, but I want a pizza oven and I’m getting one! I also asked for pajamas. ---

I haven’t played my violin much at all in the last few years, but I’m hoping to pick it back up. Two of my bows have had all the hair torn, though. So I told my dad I’d like to have those rehaired, and that’s all I want for Christmas. What I’ll get: Some amount of money matching the amount spent on each of my sisters, plus the rehairs. He won’t “count” it as a Christmas gift, I’m sure. ---

What I asked for: a down comforter. What I really want and need: Clothing and shoes. But I really need to try things on, so I guess gift certificates would be good. I don’t like to ask for gift certificates and my family doesn’t like to give them, because there’s nothing to unwrap. ---

Well since you ask I always put in a freedom of information request to the Jolly Corp. of America LLC , for a list of Naughty girls , that was compiled for the big guy circa sometime around the seventies. As these naughty girls are now full grown women , it would be interesting from a scientific point of view to see if the leopards have changed their spots , or have they just changed from leopards to cougars , hmmm. What I’d really love is to be in our new house by Christmas. Ain’t gonna happen. Aside from that, I got what I wanted this year - a family to call my own that I get to keep for fifty years and beyond, I hope. We’re sticking to inexpensive gifts for one another, so I expect a DVD. But he gave me the best gift of all when he married me three months ago:). E. ---

I’m past the point of wanting presents (and it’s my damn birthday too). The SO and I have agreed no Christmas presents – though I have a stealth present ready (a bracelet from Maui) wrapped and ready in case she gives me something. Then again, I just bought myself [one of these](http://www.racermateinc.com/computrainer.asp), along with a new Dell PC to hook it up to. My new playtoy. I suspect I will get some type of TV DVD from my daughter, seeing as she called me last week to ask what TV shows I liked the best. So I’m anticipating something in the CSI, Northern Exposure, Futurama, Family Guy, Deadwood, Carnivale, Sopranos, Space Ghost, Sealab 2021, Oz, Six Feet Under (early seasons) genre. ---

More dance classes, and a $200 grocery shopping spree. A potato ricer and some aprons would be good, too. Maybe a new hip scarf for dance class. My old one sprays coins and beads. ---

All I want for Christmas is my acceptance letter to UC Davis for grad school and to spend the holidays with my real family, not my biological one which makes living painful. What I’ll get, to work Christmas Eve until close in retail and then go to temple with my best friend, which will piss off my parents, but oh well. They don’t like the fact I’ve moved from the atheism of my youth, ie, their atheism, to somewhere between an agnostic and a Jew. Oh, for gifts, a few CDs of goth music, a RPG book and whatever my SDMB secret santa sends. And a menorah from my best friend. ---
