What **Duke** and **Payne N. Diaz** said; a girlfriend would be nice. I’d agree with **Eva Luna** too, except as a guy, I’d rather not have a gynecologist around me, unless it’s my German friend in which case we should meet in the pub for several drinks. ---

I’d really like to go out for a pizza. We order pizza in, but never go out for one. That sounds so good to me. But I don’t want any things. Well, world peace, but my husband hasn’t the resources. If he pressed me for manageable ideas, I’d say I wanted the Barefoot Contessa party cookbook. That’d satisfy me. ---

I’m working, so I want a lot of good tippers for Valentine’s. But it won’t happen. Valentine’s Day is notorious for dredging up the sludge of humanity, who go out to a real restaurant only for “really special occasions” and have never heard of a 20% tip. (The same is true for Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Easter. Screw holidays!) Ugh. ---

For Mr. Lissar to be recovered from getting his wisdom teeth extracted. He won’t be able to eat solid stuff for at last four days, and booze is out, because he’s on T3’s, so no wine. Ugh. He got them done yesterday, and tomorrow (V-day) is his birthday, too. Happy birthday, darling. ☹ ---

Aw, sympathies to Mr. Lissar. Hope he is feeling well enough to celebrate at least a bit tomorrow. I can sympathize, as I am home recovering from gall bladder surgery. I am feeling better today, though, so I think I can go out to dinner with my sweetie tomorrow as planned. Aside from that, I have my sweetheart, so I have all I want for Valentine’s Day. Although I wouldn’t turn down flowers… ---

what a crock. valentines day is just another overblown holiday in which more money is wasted than should be. Make any old day valentines and do something nice, to hell with acting like a robot and celebrating…i say ignore the 14th, stop worrying about what in the hell to get and just enjoy it like any other friday…seriously dopers, i thought you’d all be smater than that…dont get me wrong, i respect my wife, but the way our culture is so spend happy on certain days makes me sick, with that said it just isnt for me… just to help some of you out, if you’re going to waste money on flowers dont…go to your local cemetary and look for a recent gravesite, loads of flowers, you know, every kindyou’d need. take a few , no one would miss them. Hell my wife loves this and she is rather normal. dont let the flowers waste away if you can use them…enjoy…that is my gift to you all on this day before valentines… ---

It does, **Dogzilla**! Lots of hugs and stuff! Oh, and **Bindrah** , most of the posts have been about just doing something fun and romantic with your (“your” in the general sense) SO. I don’t see why that qualifies as “evil ignorant commercialism”. I know that it’s no different from any other day; however, I am deliberately _choosing_ to make it special. ---

I think Valentines day is just another day. Mrs. Bernse sees no use of roses or cards so I’m OK with that one. I will, however, try to make it slightly more romantic than a regular day. I will make a nice big batch of my famous Spaghetti Carbonara and a side of Garlic Toast. We will probably have a nice bottle (or two) of Riesling with the meal. For dessert, I’ll make some home-made Mint Chocolate-Chip Ice Cream. I think we’ll rent **Big Fat Greek Wedding** and maybe end the night with a bath together in our soaker tub. ---

Unfortuneately, I don’t really have much of a relationship thing going at the moment- more of a on-and-off-friends-with-benifits thing. We’re really just friends who can’t keep our hands off of each other when we’re alone. So I’m not expecting anything from him. I would really love it, however, if he sent me some flowers or something…but what I really want right now is to just spend some alone-time with him. This won’t get to happen anytime soon, though- but hey, a girl can dream! ~monica ---
