Sure, we all have the ability to do anything, but some things require just too much damn work. So what do you wish you could do without putting any work into it? I wish I could do pushups on my fingertips without my feet touching the ground. And I wish I could break dance. How about you guys? ---

I wish I could sing. I couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket. My mother, sisters, aunt and uncle all have perfect pitch and can play multiple instruments. Sadly, I inherited my father’s complete lack of musicality. I wish I could draw. Again, artistic ability runs in my family, and I’m the one who can’t draw stick men without making them look deformed! I wish I could speak a second language fluently. Knowing how to say “where is the train station?” and “thankyou” in 7 languages is somehow not quite the same thing. ---

Don’t know if this really counts, since it is something I am working hard at to learn to do… however I wish I could do a koshinage throw smoothly and gracefully against an uke who’s shorter than I (which, although I’m only 6’ tall, accounts for practically everybody else in my dojo) If that’s too obscure, koshinage is a hip throw, where you drop one side or the other of your hips into your opponents lower belly and give a bit of a swish with your butt to send them flying up and over you. It’s spectacular when it works, but most embarassing when you have to pause half way through to crouch down another six inches cause you mis-judged where you hip was relative to your partners center. ---

I wish I could play hockey a bit better. I’ve had moments of brilliance out there. I just wish they came more consistently. ---

One armed chinups. Working on them, but it might take a while to get there. Two skills I constantly dream about having: Surf guitar. In my dreams, I’m a maestro. All the birds at the beach swoon when I come up, daddy-o. Yeah, my dreams are odd. No, too damn lazy to ever learn. Swimming. Going to take classes eventually, but still fairly embarassing not to be able to do. I have constant dreams that I can do an expert crawl. This is probably going to get me killed sometimes, because sometimes I forget I can’t really swim in real life. “Don’t worry, ma’am! I’ll save you! _dives into water__bloop bloop bloop bloop_” ---
