Well? Do you like them or not? On only certain types of men? Or only certain types of beard, like a Sean Connery, or a large square Amish variaty? Or can you only stand a man with a face a smooth as a baby’s bottom? ---

Used to dislike them immensely. Found a person who had one that I love. Now they are dandy. They must, however, be kept neat and tidy. Beard-burn is no fun! ---

Goatee is fine… anything more and I’d not be too happy… Amish is just plain nasty and oh my god, an Abraham Lincoln lookalike thing would just give me nightmares. I had some probs re overly attentive guy with a beard - freaked me out a bit (a lot) and so I’ve always shyed away from them since. But goatees were always cool and, as it turns out, bf has one, so I’m :D. ---

See, I clicked on this thread mainly because I figured **Eve** would sieze the opportunity to make a beard joke. I’m so not disappointed. Me, I’m not keen on the facial hair at all, because it can be roughish. But I suppose if it’s fairly short and neat I’d deal with it if it was on the guy I love. ---

I’m a big fan of facial hair, but alas my hubby’s chin is about as smooth as a baby’s bottom! I tend to like things to the extremes; I’m very fond of goatees and really long beards, but that in-between state of lumberjack scraggly kind of ruins it for me. I like men who are creative with their sideburns as well. The elvis porkchop look can look fabulous on some guys, and I like that pointy devil type thing that I’ve seen on men like Prince and Dave Navarro. ---

Rule of beards: If you can’t grow a chin, grow a beard. Hubby has a beard because shaving causes him problems. I like it. He keeps it quite short and neatly trimmed and does not have a moustache. ---

I prefer the clean male face - I have very soft sensitive skin and I don’t much care for the rash I get from even the softest of beards. ---

Guys with beards remind me of my dad. Which is not a bad thing, but which probably explains why I’ve only smooched non-bearded men. A well-kept beard can look very handsome, though. Not everyone can pull off goatees. Some men look fabulously distinguished with them; some just look like trying-too-hard hipsters. ---

Goatees look good on some guys, but only a few can really pull it off. However, those guys are more for looking than anything else. If I’m going to be kissing a guy, I want him clean-shaven. ---

I don’t like mustaches without beards or beards without mustaches. Well-trimmed goatees are okay. I used to hate beards. But then my husband grew a beard, with mustache and not a goatee, against my wishes. And I had to admit it looked good on him, damn good. He has a chin- a lot of chin. He has a long face with a pointed chin, and the beard seems to round it off nicely. He looks so good with a beard that I’d throw a crying hissy fit if he shaved now. ---

DH had a beard down to his chest when we met. I thought it would be all rough and scratchy but it’s soft and smoochie. I married him without ever seeing his face without the beard (I thought that was particularly brave \) and was pleasantly surprised when he shaved it off the first time 5 years later. To our kids, Dad just isn’t Dad without his beard. He shaves it off every couple of years to give me a thrill though 😃 ---

I like all facial hair. I love full beards. I sometimes become irrationally attracted to guys I don’t like when they don’t have time to shave. I even like moustaches. They’re so old fashioned looking that I’m always impressed that anyone would have the nerve to grow one. And they look _swanky_. I like beard-kissing. I’m not so nuts about goatees though. They’re a little stereo salesmanny. I always feel like facial hair is the icing on the cake. If I like the way someone looks without a beard I will wonder how he will look when I convince him to grow one. I always try to get guys to grow facial hair. I like monobrows too. So what I am saying is YES for beards. ---

If they’ve got a nice, neat goatee or some sort of pleasing beard & mustach combo…I’m usually jealous. If I could grow facial hair without having shave everyday (if we’re wishing, why not wish big) or make any chemical changes to my body or lose any of the plumbing/accoutrements that make me the dyke that I am…I’d grow a modest and stylish amount of facial hair. The darker hair on my upper lip might make a beautician uncomfortable, and the 5 or so recurring pains in the ass that are the annoying hairs on my chin…I’d gladly make a small deal with the devil to get rid of I currently endure…but I’d be tempted to barter a bit more (at least for a week or so) if I could ensure a full, thick goatee. The “bearded” women I know, while beautiful in their own right, don’t instill the same level envy. Maybe it’s just the Drag-King in me… ---

Also, some men who are, uh, chubby, tend to look better with a beard because it hides that double chin or extra fat appearance. ---

I don’t like beards, especially on guys my own age (22). One reason is because they remind me of my father and I’m not attracted to my father (who knew!). I can stand goatees, but I don’t really like them that much, especially when guys get ‘creative’ with them and add all kinds of handles and interesting shapes. I knew a guy who shaved his sideburns into lightening bolts…sounds cool, but the result was not a very good idea!
