Tofu. I know it’s supposed to be super healthy and take on the flavor of whatever it’s cooked with, but to me it’s just slimy, tasteless glop that smells like burning rubber when it’s baked. Yeccch! 🤢🤮 I have, however, been known to devour Chef Boy-ar-dee pasta straight out of the can. But I never eat anything off the kitchen counter without spraying the latter with alcohol (brandy) first. ---

My father eats pickled pigs feet. Everyone eats seafood. It tastes the way dead seaweed smells. Tea. Okay, I can’t really count this because even smelling it makes me nauseous to the point of vomiting so I think it’s a medical thing. ---

Coffee. Smells great, but the bitter taste makes it undrinkable for me unless at least 1/3 of the cup is milk and has 2-3 spoonfuls of sugar. Dark chocolate. So bitter that it’s inedible. ---

For the record, I like lima beans. In fact, there are only two foods I’ve had that I hate: Limburger cheese and haggis. I’ve never eaten a Twinkie. From what I’ve heard, I wouldn’t like it. ---

Broccoli. It smells like a dirty diaper when being cooked and it tastes like a nasty, poisonous weed when eaten. I don’t care how much cheese or other sauce you put on it, or how starving hungry or drunk I am, I cannot stand that stuff! I want to gag just talking about it. ---

Just the _smell_ of mustard nauseates me. Same with any variation of pickle relish. I don’t mind the smells of coffee and jalapeño peppers, but the tastes disgust me. I’m 49 years old, and I have finished _one_ cup of coffee in my adult life. I love pasta, but I can’t eat Mac & cheese. It’s so cheesy that it overwhelms my taste buds, and not in a good way. ---

Yogurt. I know a lot of people are in love with this, but to me it tastes like a dairy product that entered a state of decay a week ago. Also, I’m in the “cilantro tastes like floor cleaner” camp. ---

Peanuts are objectively disgusting and the fact that everyone else on the planet enjoys them is clearly some weird anomaly. Actual nuts are like eating wood, and again, a lot of people seem to like that. ---

I don’t like burgers, which is problematic because if you’re over at a friend’s house in the summer, firing up a grill and cooking some burgers is almost standard. ---

I like the taste of most things, and I do the shopping, so just plain nasty stuff doesn’t show up in our house much. However, we do have ketchup and blueberry yogurt on hand. I cannot eat something that looks like blood or purple glop. ---

My grandfather on my mother’s side loved borscht (served cold with sour cream, dominated by beets, yum!) and even worse, gefilte fish, which look to me like the poopings of someone with a severe bilirubin deficiency. Incidentally, the idea that cilantro-haters are condemned by their genetics has a shaky basis. Study evidence is limited (one that gets cited all the time has to do with an _olfactory_-associated gene, not one having to do with taste) and disdain for the herb may commonly be associated with simple preference, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
