I was watching some PBS show about ice cream parlors across the country, and apparently there’s a very tiny and EXTREMELY popular one in New England, open only during the season. They still use the original ice cream maker from the dawn of time and college kids work there during the summer.

So of course, for the guys, when a cute girl finally wends her way in to the shop from the line that wraps around the block, they yell “Check Vanilla!” and lots of neck-craning ensues.

Lest you think the girls are any less aware of any cute boys that may wander in, they have a code too…“Check Banana!”

**Carlyjay** , you are indeed a Code Pink. Feel free to strut for the rest of the day, secure in the knowledge that service employees everywhere are ogling you.

When I was in college, my fraternity brothers all knew that “White Dress!” was code for, “Okay, there are way to many of you staring at that chick, and she’s gonna get creeped out.”

At my store now I just stick my head into the backroom and go, “Me!”

(As in, the hot girl who just walked in is reserved… for me.)
I’ve never visited any of the Doper Pix threads, and now I suspect I never can (through fear of crushing disappointment with the “real world”).
Actually, there are quite an astonishing number of fine-looking Dopers. At least the ones who post to the pic threads.

In keeping with the long-established precedent in this thread, I’m afraid I’m going to have to call for a pic.

When I worked at the Chicago Greyhound terminal the call for Security was “Will the Robert Johnson party please report to Gate _X_.” Now, think about that for a second, which is longer than they did: we were in Chicago, which has a large African-American population. Many of those people had relatives down south, from where the great migration of the 20s through 40s had come. Many of those people would take the cheapest and most direct way Down Home to visit their relatives or have their relatives visit them. Add in that both Robert and Johnson are common names, especially among black people. Now, mentally calculate the odds there would be at least one Robert Johnson in the terminal at any one time. Solely through observation, since I’m lousy at math, I found that there would be a group of confused people milling around Gate _X_ roughly one time in four that the Robert Johnson party got paged, not counting the times there were confused security guards milling around a gate when someone named Robert Johnson really was paged.
