This thread is kind of attacking the person as a whole, in a rather unspecific, uncited way and advocating for shunning someone. It’s dragging someone into the pit, this etv did not come to the pit and have some specific view attacked. I don’t know this Etv78, but I think that not saying anything more specific than that you don’t like his/her postings and wanting to shun someone does not seem mature to me, it reminds me of high school kids who do not have not developed emotions and empathy and just emote what they feel. It is not a compliment, even though its not the type of thing that increases my respect for the culture of the board - whatever that is. It is not a complaint either, it is not my place to complain. It’s just the thought I had. ---

Ever argued with someone who deliberately misconstrued what you said? How about someone who repeatedly made up lies? If so, eventually you no doubt realized that dispassionate logic was getting you nowhere and you’d rather just call them a dickbag and tell them to fuck off. Now, maybe you’re a Vulcan and have never given into such a base impulse, but most humans reach this point at one time or another. Hence, this forum. It gives people an outlet to yell at idiots and assholes without disrupting the other more discussion-oriented forums. ---

(Or actually I do, but for reasons of usage, not vulgarity.) I just thought page 1 was high on petty bullshit and low on substantiation. A good pitting doesn’t only attack: it _instructs_. It instructs the reader on aspects of the full distribution of human behavior that is: the targets are usually (not always) beyond help. etv78 may indeed be a veritable cornucopia of dicks. I don’t know. Frankly he hadn’t registered with me before the recent ATMB probable purposeful inanity. I still have only a dim idea of what he’s about, his apparently massive post count notwithstanding. ---
