# What does SDMB mean?

Okay so SDMB means Straight Dope Message Board, but there are many other things which I havent figured out.
Heres my question: Where can I go to see what certain SDMB things mean? Things such as troll, hijack, the many acronyms I see, etc etc. I know this is not a very detailed list, but is there a way I can find out? Or perhaps should I keep this thread open so as to use it for a reference guide? (ask as I go along?) Thanks fellow dopers!

I’m sure there must be a page where all these questions have been asked before, but I can’t rememebr seeing it. Most of these questions can be answered by simply putting the term and the words ‘acronym’ and ‘internet’ into Google. It should turn up [sites like this.](http://www.walthowe.com/glossary/index.html)
Anyway a hijack is when a poster changes the topic of a thread from what the original poster wanted to discuss. Usually accomplished by making outrageous statements that no-one is prepared to let by uncommented on. It’s considered bad manners in case you didn’t guess.

Quite a few of your questions can be answered in the **About This Message Board (ATMB)** forum. Read through the threads of the past few months there, and you’ll find a lot of info both for this board and other internet related items. There have been several threads on acronynms and abbreviations, as well as discussions of warnings and bannings.
