I saw him once post-Sabbath, third row at the Greek. What surprised me was that he got that powerful voice out of five-foot-nothing. He was tiny.
Huh. I thought that was the premise of ABBA’s Fernando.
The most shocking thing about any Dio lyric is when it doesn’t include a reference to rainbows.
Or dragons, or wizards, or witches…![]()
Love is the answer to release ourselves from this matrix of control. We are controlled by religion and the concern if we are going to either heaven or hell. The dancer is a free person, not enslaved by the matrix. The lyric saying “no one will bleed for the dancer”, means that no one wants or is willing to stand up and fight for the people—- “bleeds” means sacrifice, because they are “fools”, and do not see what’s really going on around us. They are wrapped up in Ego based lives.
Even the movies are all about good and evil. It goes on, and on and on… repeating and enslaving humanity. Heaven/Hell, Good/Evil.
If everyone would turn off the ego, and turn on Love, we as dancers could rise above the “Good/Evil, Heaven/Hell paradigm, because “Love really is the answer”. Dio knew this almost 40 years ago. Brilliant.
