OHHH I found it in Wiki: Uncle= Right wing teabagger Fox news watcher Aunt= Lesbian Dogcatcher who goes to musicals Grandma= Folk Singing taxidermist wrestling fan Cousin= Incestuous inbred Weather Channel obsessive Stepmother= Really a sweet person If you don’t know these things you are culturally illiterate, and have no business watching awards shows. Man, you just don’t get it… ---

What does the joke mean? It means Andy Samberg is no funnier as Emmy host than he is at Comedy Central roasts. ---

I thought it was a pretty funny line. Like others have said, everyone has that uncle that ruins thanksgiving. this is the kind of guy that would support Trump. Other typical things attributed to this uncle: “…and if wasn’t for those god-damned _fill in ethnic group here_” “they should just round 'em all up and _fill in capital punishment method here_” Usually, these lines are then followed by a few moments of silence were you hear nothing but silverware clinking against plates. ---

Has there ever been a joke that was funny once it was explained? This joke doesn’t even need the payoff line, Donald Trump running for President is intrinsically funny, especially to a Hollywood crowd. But let’s go through the exercise. Set up: Donald Trump is running for President (as I said, intrinsically funny) Premise: Fans of Donald Trump are likely to be older than Andy Samberg’s demographic Truth: Your uncle, being a sibling of one of your parents, is likely to be older than you. Pay off: Uncles love Donald Trump. Add in the long history of “crazy uncle” jokes (viz. every episode of _Welcome Back Kotter_ ever) and the joke is revealed. And I bet you still don’t think it’s funny. ---

I think the problem in this thread is that some of those uncles are posting in it. If you didn’t understand it, it’s fine. It’s based on popular culture. If you don’t follow popular culture that’s fine. But it was pretty funny if you do. Hearing something that isn’t a joke being explained as if it was with historical references veers into tragedy/farce. But still not funny. ---
