Missed the edit window–for years our sole mode of transportation (other than walking) was [the infamous Beirut \*service \* taxi.](http://beirutspring.com/blog/2007/11/19/the-face-of-lebanon-a-rotten-mercedes/) We’re just now getting used to car ownership again (which is a pain in the ass, I can tell you). ---

I’m actually transitioning between cars as we speak. The [1997 Jetta](http://picasaweb.google.com/aerodave/Jetta/photo#5160335461521838530) that has served me well for 8 years will soon turn into an [2008 Audi A5](http://picasaweb.google.com/aerodave/SDPics/photo?authkey=4PXq9FG1g9Q#5167813600050268098). On the weekends, we enjoy our most recent purchase, a [1995 Alfa Romeo Spider V6](http://coldfire.50megs.com/images/Spiderke.jpg). Tons of fun, beautiful engine, mediocre build quality, premium repair bills, horrible fuel economy. 😃 My every day work car is a [2006 Alfa Romeo GT](http://coldfire.50megs.com/Alfa%20GT/gtke.jpg). Nice looker, luxurious interior, comfortable and fairly reliable car. Its 1.8 four cilinder engine makes it a tad underpowered, though it still corners like you would not believe, amazing amounts of grip. It’s a company car, by the way, so not technically “mine”. And of course, the most fun is to be had on two wheels. We own a [2005 Yamaha TDM 900 ABS](http://www.yamaha-chalkida.gr/greeke/site_images/newsimg/53_TDM%20900%2005%20STUDIO.jpg). Great fun to ride, awesome two cilinder sound with its aftermarket Laser exhausts, surprisingly comfortable for rider as well as passenger. We fitted ours with a top case and back rest, so the wife can sit back and enjoy the bends. 🙂 ---
